Kondane Caves (Near Karjat) 13 Jan 2008
Situated at the base of Rajmachi hill in Maharashtra, Kondane Caves are the early Buddhist Caves surrounded by stupendous waterfalls. It boasts of magnificently sculpted figures and the sides of its pillars are carved with intricate Buddhist and lattice patterns. The monsoons are the best time to don those hiking boots and visit the caves. Trekking and water rappelling in the rains promise to be adventurous, even for the faint hearted. Put on those wet suits and head out and don’t forget to carry that extra pair of clothing and footwear as well.
