Tirupati – a place every follower of Hinduism wishes to visit at least once in his lifetime. The entire town of Tirupati is concentrated around the temple of Lord Venkateshwara which is located on the Seven Hills of Tirumala. It is the busiest temple in the world and undoubtedly the richest too. After hours of long wait, the deep black and opulently ornamented idol of the deity mesmerizes one as soon as he enters. There are a host of other temples in Tirupati which are worth visiting. The Alamelumangapuram Temple is an important temple dedicated to the consort of Lord Venkateshwara. A number of others are dedicated to Vishnu, Krishna and Shiva. Try visiting the town during one of the festivals which the town celebrates with much fervor and religiosity. Particularly beautiful is the festival dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara, which is celebrated over a period of days. |
