One of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage centers, Bodhgaya holds a special position as it is the place where Gautam Buddha attained knowledge. The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya houses the Mahabodhi Tree, the tree under which, Buddha is said to have received enlightenment. Immensely popular here are the meditation and yoga camps. It is the presence of these places that lends a spiritual air to the Bodhgaya.
