The entrance to the Sun n Sand is quite a surprise. For a hotel which is supposed to be a 3/4 star, you'd expect a slightly grander entry. But what you essentially get is a drop off area with the 2 elevators right next to it. My companion was a little taken aback and started doubting the quality of the hotel. First impressions can sometimes be false as once we hit the reception area, we were quite happy about the setup of the hotel.
Check-in took about 45 minutes which is unacceptable in any hotel. This hotel has huge issues with regard to its customer service. Whilst we the customers are standing there, the person at the Reception is loudly berating Housekeeping saying, "Guests are here... you better make sure the room is ready" etc. And after all this it still took 45 mins. This was followed by another call obviously by a customer seeking reservations and HE was told to call back after an hour as the person handling Reservations was currently in a meeting. These are not things you expect in a service oriented industry like hospitality and Sun n Sand's brand name will take a beating if such things continue.
Once we got into the room after about 30 minutes we realized the A/C wasn't cooling the room so we put in call to Housekeeping. 2 "engineers" came in the space of 2 hours after repeated complaints, tinkered with the vents and remote and went away saying it'll start cooling in 5-10 minutes. This whole thing started at 3:15pm in the afternoon and by 8:45pm we were still stick in a Superior River room where the A/C didn't work. We went down to complain to the manager and he seemed as clueless as everyone else asking us to suggest what to do as he had no more Twin Bed rooms in the hotel. The only thing that stopped us from leaving the hotel that night was the fact that a few of the hotels we called like the Taj Vivaanta were sold out as well. Eventually we took a room with a double bed and asked for a mattress to be placed on the floor. They offered to shift us to another twin bed room the following day but we were already fed up and didn't fancy the thought of shifting all our stuff again.
Other things which pissed us off:-
Food - in some instances good and in others stunningly mediocre.
Cleanliness - There was dust and dirt in the corners of the rooms.
Staff - While getting our bags the clumsy staff broke a bottle of beer which we'd purchased. We brushed that off without too much fuss, but how the hell can you hang around for a tip immediately after you do something like that?? Absolutely moronic!
Keycards - Except for the last night (we stayed there 4 nights), there was a problem with our key cards every single day.
Its safe to say we will not be staying at this hotel again. While most things can be forgiven, you just CANNOT screw up on service. I've stayed in some pretty ordinary hotels over the course of my travels but they have elevated themselves entirely on their hospitality and that is the major factor in drawing repeat business..
Regardless of their personal situation it is the customer that has ended up paying the price!

I stayed at Sun-n-Sand, Panjim, Goa along with my family (including wife, kids and parents). The 3 days stay was very pleasant and we decided to give our first preference to Sun-n-Sand group hotel for the kind of service, food and attention we received from the hotel.
It was a great stay.

The hotel is located 1 km from the beach. We stayed in superior room ,it was well furnished with all the necessities. Instead of double bed it was twin bed in the room. The professionalism of the staff is wonderful, they are very friendly and helpful. The food was awesome in taste. It is worth the money.

Hotel is located bit far from the beach but close to the river. Our room was well maintained with all the necessities. The service provided by the staff was wonderful. Even the breakfast was amazing in taste. We had used swimming pool, it was clean. Altogether this is an above average property.
