LOCATION AND REACHING THERE:-
The hotel is located in South Mumbai, and thus very convenient if you have work in Fort, Nariman Point, Ballard Estate etc. Of course this locational advsntage also means that it far from the airport but on the flip-side not so far from Mumbai Central (Western Railway), very close to Mumbai CST (Central Railway) and convenient for local travel by train within Mumbai from Churchgate (Western Railway suburban) or Mumbai CST (Central Suburban and Harbour lines).
The only problem in reaching the hotel is that it is not very well known to many drivers. A good landmark is CST. One canm come to Ballard Estate from there and then ask for further directions on reaching Ballard Estate.
Parking is not a problem, unlike the general South Mumbai scenario.
RECEPTION AND FRONT DESK:-
Very polite and helpful staff. They went out of their way to guide me when I needed some assistance in locating a destination within Mumbai and were equally helpful in other matters as well.
We were two of us but coming in to BOM by different flights 12 hours apart. My morning check-in was handled with the same efficiency and speed as the late night check-in of my companion.
ROOM AND AMENITIES:-
Good, well appointed rooms. I was on the 3rd floor and the room, though road-facing, was quiet and private. Very clean and comfortable too. The AC was super-efficient and even in the Mumbai weather, chilled the room fast.
The bathroom too was clean and had all the basic + a couple of extra amenities (except a tub, which anyway I normally do not use).
The in-room tea and coffee maker was very convenient too.
ROOM SERVICE & RESTAURANTS:-
Room service was quick and the food quite tasty. Very polite staff at the other end of the phone, both while taking orders and also while delivering the order to the room.
The breakfast buffet was good but a bit more of vegetarian choices would be great. Plus, the sole vegetarian dish (apart from toast and fruits) was cutlets which got over much before the buffet closed -- maybe because it was tasty and/or lots of veg patrons and/or lesser quantity prepared. My guess would be a combination of these three reasons!!
The staff fulfilled a special order for ginger tea in 5 minutes flat (even though it was not there in the buffet spread).
Handled with the same efficiency and speed as check-in.
And as always, the bottom line is -- would I ask TravelGuru for a booking there again?
My answer is -- Definitely yes.
