This was my 2nd trip to Tarkarli, and first time at Blue Water Resort, previously I stayed at Sagar Sangam. In my review, I will compare the pros and cons for both of these hotels as these two are the most expensive hotels in Tarkarli (Rs 3,500/night). Houseboats are even more expensive (Rs 10,000/night), but are terrible to stay as per online reviews. Location: Both hotels are located next to each other, Sagar Sangam has river view for all rooms and Blue Water Resort has beach view for all rooms. From Malvan, both resorts at distance are around 7 KM which takes about 15 20 mins by car driving. Most of the Sight Seeing locations are within 10 to 15 KM i.e. Devbag Sangam beach - 2 KM, Rock Garden 8 KM, Sindhudurg Fort 7 KM, Vengurla Beach 25 KM. Parking: Both hotels have open parking and can accommodate maximum of 5 to 6 cars. Security person is only available at Blue Water Resort, but not at Sagar Sangam. Some extra points for the Blue Water Resort, as without asking car was washed daily. Front Desk: At Blue Water Resort, the check-in procedure was seamless and also received a nice welcome drink. Rooms were ready and cleaned, we reached the hotel by 1:00 PM (Had couple of issues in billing, will describe more on that in Restaurant review). For Sagar Sangam, to be honest, there is no front desk at all, all they have is a restaurant billing desk. Check in was smooth, but the front desk area did not justify the premium cost of Rs 3,500. Rooms: At Blue Water Resort all rooms are facing the beach, but I would recommend to take rooms on 2nd floor for a good view. Rooms are small yet cozy with good interiors and although do not justify the premium cost, Air Con, T.V, Taps & Flush were all in working condition. At Sagar Sangam, all rooms are facing river. Rooms are big, but interiors are very lousy and do not justify the premium cost. Air Con, TV, were in working condition. At both the location we had to inform the hotel staff to start hot water. Electricity is an issue in Tarkarli, but both the hotels have backup generators. Food: At Blue Water Resort, you need to order food at least 1 hour in advance. We ordered the local Malvani food and being a Maharashtrian knowing the taste, the food lived to our expectation. Although at times food served was not hot, and their justification was kitchen being located at ground floor and restaurant on the first floor. Breakfast was part of the deal, mostly Indian breakfast i.e. Idly, Poha, Masala Omelets and corn flakes. For vegetarians, they have decent options. Now coming to the issue, we ordered Sunny Side Up omelet instead of Masala and they charged us for that without informing us in our final bill. Also, couple of bills had counting mistakes of Rs 100 to 200. With a bit of argument, they reversed the unnecessary charges. At Sagar Sangam, you need to order food at least 2 to 3 hours in advance for lunch and dinner. Also, the taste of food was not up to the mark, but their arrangement to serve the food was excellent in the lawn with the river view. For Vegetarians, the options are very less and not up to the mark. Tip: If you really want to have excellent local Malvani food, just drive 7 KM to Malvan and visit Chaitanya Restaurant. Service: Both hotels have local staff who must have never attended any hotel management courses, so dont expect that premium service. They know a little of Hindi language, so dont except them to talk in English. Overall service was average, as our calls to reception were addressed in reasonable amount of time. Overall if you are interested to visit Tarkarli and have a budget of around Rs 4000/night, I would recommend Blue Water Resort, as its the only resort with good amenities. Although it does not justify the premium cost.
