Navi Mumbai or Mumbai’s Twin - its claim to fame is the fact that it is India’s only ‘No Slum City’. Developed as a getaway from the busy life of Mumbai, the city is also extremely well-planned. • Pandavpada Waterfalls: These are located in Kharghar and form one of the most popular picnic destinations. The falls are an especially pretty during the monsoons as the water gushes from a height.

• Kharghar Hills: This is yet another popular tourist and picnic spot in Navi Mumbai. The spot provides panoramic views of the entire city.

• Karnala Fort: The Karnala Fort is an amazing structure lying in the outskirts. This 12th century fort forms an interesting place to trek.

There is no dearth of eating places in Navi Mumbai. From a roadside snack stall to an international food chain outlet, the city has everything. The innumerable roadside stalls sell out lip-smacking Mumbaiya meals like dosas, idlis, bhel, sev puri, samosas, ragda patties, pulavs, rajma chawal and more. If you are on a look out for a modern fast-food joint there are McDonald’s and Pizza Hut. Apart from these Sri Krishna, Dwaraka, Sai Sanjog and Shiv Sagar are excellent options for a pure vegetarian meal. Flavours is a nice place to savour some delectable international delicacies. It has a nice, well-stocked bar too. Viscious Circle serves some mouth-watering kebabs and other non-vegetarian specialties. A popular place to hangout is the Hot Cross Café, a happening coffee shop serving delicious pastries and a host of flavored hukkas.

Navi Mumbai is fast growing as a hub for shopping enthusiasts with a number of malls and shopping arena coming up in Vashi and Nerul. The Center One Mall in Vashi is one of the most happening areas here. It has a host of big brands outlets and international eating joints. The Palm Beach Galleria and City Center Mall are other recent additions here. One of the largest and most famous of Malls in the city is the Raghu Leela Mall, which has a number of restaurants and branded stores. Fame Multiplex is another crowd puller there. For avid shoppers, Navi Mumbai has big retail stores like Big Bazaar and D-Mart too.
