Candolim was the first village in Bardez to be converted completely to Christianity in the 16th century. The village is less clustered in comparison to most of the other villages in the region and is spread out, which eliminates any such center. The Candolim beach is probably the quietest beach on this stretch and even the area surrounding the beach has very few resorts. However, there are a number of inns around the place that offer good accommodation for relatively reasonable prices. One of the most interesting features about this beach is the River Princess ship which has been stuck on the beach shores since 2000. Candolim does cater to tourists as it has a number of 3 star and 4 star hotels, making it an ideal place for business and leisure tourists to stay at. It is about 15 kilometers from the capital of Panjim and begins at the Aguada Fort and ends at a merge with Calangute beach.
