Fresh from Team India’s exemplary performances in this edition of the Cricket World Cup, travel agencies all across the country suddenly have their work cut out. There has been an exponential rise in flight tickets following India’s success against arch-rivals Pakistan and also South Africa.

The number of inquiries for travel packages to Australia and New Zealand has increased greatly. Leading E-commerce sites are seeing jumps in bookings for destinations like Melbourne and Auckland. However, this being the peak season, tourists will have to shell out much more than usual. Airfares are 20% higher, so package costs will inevitably go up by 10-15%.

Take note that, due to the high demand, the Australian visa will take almost a week longer than the normal 15 days to process.

Apart from this, demand for audio-visual equipment has also spiked. TV sales after the Indo-Pak and India-SA matches have increased by 50% on an average, especially the bigger sized TVs. Some companies have witnessed a 30-50% increase in LED TV sales.

The Cricket World Cup is reaching the business end of the tournament, and travel agents all across India will now be hoping for the team to reach the finals.
