Gifts thrown into wells include the local feni, and apart from this there are a lot of song and dance performances and boat races as well. This festival flaunts a carnival like ambience wherein people several villages come together and celebrate this colourful festival with great gusto.

Hemis Festival

Last in the list of Indian festivals to attend in June, this two day festival is a celebration of the birth of Guru Padmasambhava who founded Tantric Buddhism in Tibet. The Hemis Festival is celebrated at the Hemis Monastery in Leh, and is a vision in beautiful colours, grand masks and booming music. The masked dances performed by the lamas signify the victory of good over evil and are a poignant sight to behold. Indulge in the musical high of cymbals, drums and trumpets and delight in the wonder that is the Hemis Festival.
