Comfortable clean hotel in great location

We had a very nice 4-night stay here. The location is great - an easy walk to anywhere in the old city, yet a little apart from the noisier roads. The staff were all friendly and accommodating, and the rooftop restaurant was great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Our room (# 9) had a great view of the lake from a very cosy little seating area that was my partners favorite spot (in the whole city!)
Some people may not like the noise from the restaurant overhead but we didnt find it bad during the day, and with our trusty earplugs we were able to sleep well every night. The shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure.
Excellent value near the City Palace, Jagdish temple

This small hotel offers excellent value. As mentioned in other posts Room 109 has the best lake view and it is directly under the kitchen. Hotel management was very upfront about this and gave us a choice of rooms and offered to change our room if we found it too noisy. We loved our window seat overlooking the lake, with the windows open the breeze came in. There is some noise from the kitchen above and from people going up and down the stairs to the restaurant but for us it was worth it for the view at that price. If you want a great view and a quiet room expect to pay much more, or bring a set of cheap earplugs, always a travel essential for us! The restaurant serves excellent food, after 5 days in the holy city of Pushkar with no meat, eggs or alcohol the beer and barbecue/tandoor were very welcome!
Good hotel, but rude and abusive owner

We have booked this hotel directly on the website provided by the owner Mr.Singh. There are 2 category of rooms, Standard AC and Super Deluxe AC. We booked 2 Super Deluxe AC for 2 nights for 2 families. On reaching the hotel they provided only one Super Deluxe Room and one Standard AC room. Upon enquiring and asking, the owner told that no rooms are available and we have to accomodate ourselves in this only. When we asked that then please adjust the money which is half the price of Super Deluxe room he started shouting and said that he was doing a favor to accomodate us, and if we dont like then we can leave the hotel. Since we booked the hotel through a local contact of ours, we called him. When he intervened the owner's nature was changed immediately. Later they provided us with Super Deluxe room. He was a big liar to say it on our face that there was no availability of rooms, however what seems was that he didnt gave us the required room to keep hold that room to sell that to some other tourist at a higher price.
I read a similar review from some other person too and I couldn't agree more for this type of behaviour. Overall it was a very bad experience which had left a bad taste of the entire stay. I dont know why he does this, when his roof top restaurant Charcoal is a very good one, with excellent food with variety of dishes both Indian and continental.
The rooms were ok, but bathroom was small specially the pot area which was fitted in a corner and would be difficult for a healthy person to move sideways.
Excellent mid range hotel

Our room at the Pratap Bhawan was very clean, comfortable, and well appointed. After staying in some real budget dives, it was wonderful to have a proper bathroom with plenty of hot water. The food at the rooftop restaurant was absolutely delicious and the prices for Indian vegetarian choices were amongst the cheapest we found in the Lal Ghat area. The view of the lake from the restaurant is amazing as well.
