Bad rooms with a decent view!! Bad rooms with a decent view!!

by Deepali D on November 22, 2017

We visited this property in Nov 2017......stayed here for one night though I had booked 3 nights reading the previous reviews..... Firstly the Pros: Warm hosts. Harish and Myna are very helpful and warm and genuinely try their best to make you comfortable. Food: they serve good home made food.....Myna seems to be a good cook. No complaints. The View: a lovely view of the coffee estate from the common area and the windows. Coming to the Cons: the biggest setback of this homestay is the room itself....firstly its small....which is still ok.....but the room decor is below average.....we were welcomed by old bedsheets and the bathroom was not clean.....we could see harpic and a plastic broom in one corner of the bathroom. The next thing that put me off was the insects that crept into our room in the night since the house is located in a coffee estate. We have stayed in a lot of good homestays before and I can say that this place needs a lot of improvement. They need to completely change the room decor and think "elegance"....also I feel its a property more suitable for bachelors as all the rooms are too close to each other and hence lack privacy. Definitely not meant for families who are accustomed to decent or above average hospitality.

A well intentioned but insufficient offering A well intentioned but insufficient offering

Visited this place with my wife and son after my visit to Chikmagalur and this was part of our 1 week road trip / vacation covering the hills of Karnataka. The place at the first look seemed very insufficient as a hospitality offering. A cramped up room with pink (yes pink) curtains and pink bed sheet (with hearts on it) greeted us- promising a less than comfortable experience. There are 3 rooms on the first floor which house three sets of visitors with the ground floor where owner harish and wife Myna stay. Though there is a seating area outside which should compensate for the lack of space in the guest rooms, a one just cannot do away with the feeling of stepping on the toes of other guests. We were booked for 3 nights and had paid an advance of 50% but decided to move out the very next day. The loss of some money was acceptable to salvage our vacation. We then moved to Madikeri and booked into le Coorg which is really awesome and put us right back in the vacation mood. Harish is a very warm guy and the food they offer is awesome. But the facility is not meant for a family used to some basic comforts. Well intentioned but yet very insufficient housing is what I will remember this place as. Days of stay Reached on evening of 16th nov 2017 and left 17th morning though we had booked till 19th morning.

Peaceful stay.. Peaceful stay..

The rooms here and spacious, tidy and well maintained. Food offered by the hosts is yummy and filling. Barbecue in the evening is something not to miss. The space around the house is filled with trees, it is located in a calm and serene, additionally it feels quite nice to cut off from the busy city life. Another plus is that the area has several sites to explore and just have fun. I would recommend this stay for everyone who is looking for someplace to spend away from the city.

Property is located some 20 kms from Madikeri in a quite place. The homestay was able to deliver a relaxing holiday with good food and homely comforts. Host arranged a guided estate tour for us & had campfire...i think they offer couple of other activities like Fishing, trekking etc. Overall its a nice experience staying at Cauvery Polekare. Highly recommended.

Situated right on the banks of the River Cauvery as the name suggests, Cauvery Polekare is the perfect destination to unwind and relax. I visited the homestay last month with a couple of my school friends and we had a really good time. The pricing is a steal for the luxuries afforded and the wonderful two hosts are a pleasure to interact with. Harish and Myna welcomed us in like their family and took care of every thing. The rooms available to the guests are on the first floor and provide a stunning view of the estates around, especially during sunset. We also spend hours by the river and walking along the plantations. To top things off, the food was simply out of this world. Myna is a brilliant cook and Harish a superb host. It was the perfect getaway for all of us and we definitely would like to go back and visit them both and the Cauvery river once again.
