We had a absolutely delightful weekend in Mina's Nest/Kaveri Riverside Homestay. The hosts were a very wonderful couple who took care of every small detail. Clean rooms, spacious bath, wonderful home-cooked food is what you can expect. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed herself with the friendly trio of German Shepards, the guinea pigs, the wild frogs and the cats on the property. This is riverside in the very literal sense of the word. The Kaveri flows a few steps away from the house. Anglers would do good to carry a light rig. Local knowledge suggests fishing with bread bait for carp, masheer, and snakehead. This is something we missed out on for the lack of a rig. With the 3 burly but very friendly German Shepards, bringing pets would be not be advised. As for the food, most of the vegetables are homegrown. Aunty's fish fry is not something to forget in a long time. The veggie fare is excellent too. As for places to visit nearby, Dubare elephant camp is about half an hour's drive. The monasteries in Kushalnagar and Nisargadhama is accessible at about an hour's drive. The hosts will be more than willing to suggest and guide. Overall, this is a place to visit again just for the hospitality.
One of the best homestays in Coorg. Very friendly host. Very nice food and clean rooms.
About the stay... The house is few KMs from Siddhapura, situated at the bank of Kaveri river. House is surrounded by many trees and plants. Morning you will be waking up to birds' chirping. Rooms are pretty clean. Food mostly made from the veggies grown in their garden.
About the host.. Perfect host. Myna aunty and Manu uncle are very friendly and makes your stay a very nice experience! On top of that if you are a pet lover, you will be welcomed by three German Shepherds! ;)
No activities to do around, apart from garden walk or sitting near Kaveri. But perfect place for a leisure trip/stay when you are visiting Coorg.
What a very special time we had at this homestay, taking over the whole accommodation with our party. The owners were kind, patient, and helpful. They were waiting for us with torches flashing in the darkness, and had a campfire ready to keep us warm that late first evening; So welcoming after the long journey there.
Food was delicious, home made and plentiful. All meals eaten outdoors, under the canopy, Owners advised on good excursions to keep both adults and children occupied, and every day was fun filled.
Sleep quality excellent, with comfortable beds, good sized rooms with bathrooms attached, and all with balconies overlooking jungle landscape.
Located approx. 30 kms from Madikeri at Siddapura, but the facilities and food is worth the distance. Myna Aunt and Manu Uncle are the most humble and caring host you would ever expect. They have all modern amenities at their bunglo, including good speed WiFi (you could smoothly stream videos), power back-up, well maintained western washrooms with 24x7 hot water( and tissue roll which i appreciate), etc. They have 3-4 rooms on first floor- 2 are with balcony, and 1 room in the ground floor.... Located just besides Cauvery river, you stand at this bank and have dinner or enjoy bon fire. When Aunty serves dinner, you get a spread with more than 5 veg delicacies, 2 non-veg items, rice, atta roti, dal, varity of side dishes like pickles, prawn dry pickle, chilli frys, etc. And not to forget, fresh seasonal fruits like rare jackfruit, avocado and more... Aunties homely preparations are delicious beyond expression of words. Uncle could arrange cab service for you to go site seeing. The rates are nominal, at par with Madikeri rates. Google maps point correctly to their estate, still prefer to call up uncle for correct directions from Siddapura cross road.
we are very glad to stay. Very much nice service given. Rooms are also very big and as it is shown in Photograph. Location is also great and Space created for food very natural. All guests taken their Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner together. River side is also attractive. Planning to visit again to Coorg and Mina's Nest
