OVERVIEW

This charming riverside budget villa was once a 300 year old private heritage warehouse, nestled in the heart of the fishing village of Britona. There are ten rooms - 8 in the main villa, and 2 riverside studios with an eclectic selection of colonial antique decor.

One can unwind under the coconut trees next to the turquoise pool and eye the beautiful landscape of meandering waterways and forested hills. Guests can also bird-watch while sitting on the deck suspended over the river.

Villa filled with character Villa filled with character

This is a very nice rustic place with very sweet staff.. The food was very good and the setting is beautiful. I stayed here during the monsoon and it was nice to just watch the rain from the balcony and relax and read. Good hospitality, highly recommended.

Disorganised unresponsive business Disorganised unresponsive business

by Jo M on

We arrived at Casa Britona for a two night stay during our honeymoon. Despite having booked and paid a deposit for a room we found the place to be a building site and were told it was closed for refurbishment. When we explained we had a booking we were told with a shrug that head office must have made a mistake. After asking them to call their head office we were offered a taxi to another Casa property. When we declined (because we specifically wanted to stay near Panaji and had already visited the places where the other hotels were) we were told we would have to pay the hotel for transportation to somewhere else. We ended up paying a lot to get to and from the hotel for which we were not refunded. We also had to get in touch with head office to demand the refund of our deposit, as they didn't arrange it of their own accord, nor send any apology. Even as a building site the hotel looked like it could be lovely but that doesn't make up for poor organisation and terrible service.

Incredible Experience for the whole Family Incredible Experience for the whole Family

by Paige A on

Casa Britona was originally the home of my husbands family a place where his father and his fathers father grew up along the banks of the river. So, when we had the chance to come back and stay in this amazing place with our family, including 3 young children, it was quite literally, the best 2 days of our lives. What Ms. Dhody has done to refurbish this once simple home into a paradise is unparalleled. The rooms are large and inviting, the setting is intimate and romantic, and the service is impeccable. We were treated to traditional Goan meals, tea on the patio, and drinks in front of the river. The staff did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and we ended up feeling like family. We cannot recommend this location enough it was simply magical and a place that we will absolutely return and hopefully stay for weeks instead of days. If there was a way to give it more than 5 stars, I would. Treat yourself and visit Casa Britona it is truly an oasis.

A welcome relief from cookie cutter Goa hotels A welcome relief from cookie cutter Goa hotels

Come home to a quaint, Portugese, rustic, authentic, picturesque, riverside boutique experience. This is not a hotel but a home that offers a touch of classic Portuguese flair. It was recommended by a friend and was such a pleasant surprise. A little removed from the touristy Goa glitz, Case Britona is ideal for those that visit Goa for the first time or for the nth time. The staff is particularly helpful and serve you from their heart. Though not as plastic as service in other hotels, they make the hotel a home and not just a hotel. Ask for your whim and it will be served. We wanted traditional food and the hotels cook, a local lady promised to dish up a Goan feast. Can't wait to taste it! Come to Goa at east 2 times every year and this stay is my best so far. So different that it blows your breath away. Thank you Casa Britona.

Not a hotel but a private residence Not a hotel but a private residence

by Rob C on

I stayed just one night at Casa Britona a few weeks ago and that was enough. As others reviewers have pointed out, this is really not a hotel at all but a private residence. The owner and her family inhabit the place and thereby make guests feel like intruders. As for location, it's OK, I would imagine, if you were on your honeymoon, or if you're a writer with a deadline. Casa Britona is near nowhere. The garden and deck of the property look out over a stretch of water that is devoid of charm. Crows flock overhead and caw incessantly. After an hour of sitting there, you'Ve had enough. Trouble is there is nothing to do at Casa Britona. If you want to go into Panjim, you have to use the overpriced 'taxi' of the establishment. On the subject of overpriced, that would be my final comment of this place.
