Even better than last visit Even better than last visit

by Dewar D on January 17, 2019

We stayed here in 2014 and saw that work had started on additional rooms. These are now finished and our family stayed in a couple of them on the first floor. The new rooms have been built in the same traditional style as the original heritage rooms and have all the most modern services and facilities. The owner still pursues a strict environmentally friendly approach to the property's management. The staff are delightful and made us feel very much at home. The food is home-made and excellent. The property is fairly central to the main tourist attractions but they are more easily accessed by taxi or tuk-tuk than on foot. This is a delightful heritage property owned by a very charming family. I shall stay there again.

Wonderful NYE party! Wonderful NYE party!

by Ellie2373 on January 16, 2019

Dera Mandawa is a fantastic, family run hotel right in the heart of Jaipur. You wouldn't believe that such a tranquil oasis lies right behind the hustle and bustle of the streets. The family was incredibly helpful and friendly and the food was fantastic. We had a huge room with a massive bed and lovely granite bathroom. The highlight of our stay was the New Year's eve party where they helped us with turbans for the men and sarees for the ladies and we all sat in the beautiful courtyard listening to a folk group all evening with fireworks to round off the night. A NYE to remember and hard to top for sure! Thanks to all for a lovely stay!

Kite Flying, Saree & High Tea Kite Flying, Saree & High Tea

by AAFlyGirl2019 on January 14, 2019

Mr. & Mrs. Singh were the perfect hosts of Makar Sankranti otherwise known as the Kite Flying Festival. They opened their home to us as they taught us about and dressed us in the traditional Saree. We then enjoyed enjoyed a lovely high tra which included Chai, with savory and sweet snacks. The afternoon included flying kites from their rooftop with family and friends who were staying at their Heritage Home. A highlight of our trip to Jaipur!

A jewel in the heart of Jaipur A jewel in the heart of Jaipur

by Emma J on January 12, 2019

Dera Mandawa is a tranquil haven in the middle of Jaipur. It is a family-run property and has the feel of being welcomed into a family home for a visit, rather than a hotel. Staff are professional, attentive without being 'fussy' and the whole visit was a joy from beginning to end. The food was wonderful and our stay over the New Year was made extra special by the hospitality and attention to detail of Durgar and the Singh family who are fascinating, knowledgeable and just wondrous hosts!

Wonderful old home style hotel great host Wonderful old home style hotel great host

As part of a tour we were staying here one night and arrived early am. The host of the hotel Mr Durga Singh gave us all complimentary breakfast. The hotel was bought over100years ago from local Mahraja haslovely cool courtyardsbut the rooms were such a surprise. Huge size with modern facilities including aircon. Bathroom was all new, each room decorated with local items. We had dinner there at very reasonable prices and great food. Our host even arranged a puppet show that evening for us all. If you are in Jaipur this place is well worth a stay, especially if you have a chance to sit down with Mr Singh and listen to one of his stories.
