Great Havelli in crazy Jaipur
by Carole B on
A haven within chaotic Jaipur. The owners, in particular the wife were friendly and very much hands on. Meals were at specific times and they ate with you. Good selection at dinner and eggs/fruit, bread etc for breakfast. Very reasonably priced.
Room was quiet and very clean. Rooftop area is amazing, unfortunately dinner was not available up there when I was there. But drinks were and there is so much to see from there. The fort in particular and so many people on rooftops exercising, kite flying etc.
Jaipur is a very busy frenetic place with people and animals everywhere, the hotel is a peaceful calm respite in a great location.

Found this Hotel when looking for somewhere to stay during our visit to Jaipur, and was interested as it had featured in a BBC programme a few years ago. Well it was even better in real life than on the TV. The Brigadier and his wife were delightful hosts, providing local information to aid our sightseeing. Unfortunately one of our party was taken ill ( Nothing to do with the hotel !!), Mrs Singh organised a Doctor immediately, who arrived promptly and sorted the problem . The breakfast and dinner were exceptionally good, all home made, the best food on our trip to India. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

We stayed at the Khatu Haveli for a month and it became our home. The owners, Sushma and Amar Singh, were so welcoming and Sushma knows everything and everyone in Jaipur and seems to be related to most of them. She is so charming and such fun and has wonderful stories to tell. The Haveli is a calm haven amongst the madness of the Pink City and the food is delicious. All the staff are lovely and are part of the Khatu family. I was very sad to have to leave, but will certainly be back as soon as I can.

To be honest, we booked here just because it had been on TV, but was far better then we expected. You are situated in the Chandpole Bazar area, you have cows & pigs on the street, but within the grounds, behind walls & gates you have a different world of tranquility. We had both breakfast & evening meals here & choice/quality/quantity could not be faulted. Even the owners sit down & eat, with their. After all this is their home!

Rooms are very clean though our Bathroom wouldve benefited with a glass screen. Delicious breakfast. Very obliging staff and here I must mention Dinesh. Steps are many and steep but one gets used to it. Located in old Jaipur on a shabby street which is very safe when one enter the inner Courtyard all is peace. Would go again
