Beautiful traditional style guest house with great terrace Beautiful traditional style guest house with great terrace

While this is no luxury accommodation I liked the decoration in the rooms (make sure you pay a bit extra for the deluxe rooms) and I really enjoyed sitting on the terrace, drinking tea and watching the view of Meharangarh fort. The location is superb, very close to the old town centre as well as the sprawling alleyways of the Blue City.

Budget stay, with a great view! Budget stay, with a great view!

The rooms are basic, but clean and large. the windows give a great view of the Mehrangarh Fort. It feels like you are staying right in the midst of a bustling city. Clock tower is at a short walking distance, great places to shop and eat all around..but the icing on cake is the rooftop restaurant The Curry's! You can spend sunrise and sunsets here just looking at the great view with a masala chai! And their food is superb!! Nice and helpful staff too.

Such a disappointment after such high expectations! Such a disappointment after such high expectations!

While we had many wonderful experiences in Jodhpur, staying at Ganpati Guest House was not amongst them. Note, we've all been living and travelling in India for a few months so are not princesses by any stretch of the imagination. 1) Despite including an airport pickup, they failed to return our correspondence. 2) When we arrived via our own transport, the manager wasn't there and we had to wait in the reception for an hour before he showed up. 3) I booked online a few days in advance, but they had no record of it apparently. It seemed like we had caught them very off guard and we had to ask for basic items that stated were included (toilet paper, soap, towels). 4) At the time of booking it listed air conditioning as a general facility and made no mention that it was only available in certain rooms. We were enjoying the aircon in our room after a long hot day out when there was a knock at the door and we were told that it would be almost double the price to continue having a room with AC as the one we booked didn't include it. We were annoyed but agreed to pay extra to keep it on, which was fine until it broke down in the middle of the night. 5) When we went to check out, there was no one to be seen (at 8:30am - a reasonable time to depart) and I was eventually handed a phone by the guard. The manager was on the line. He told us to leave the money on the counter and leave (he didn't even bother coming to the Guest House). When I told him about the faulty AC that I no longer wanted to pay for he called me a liar and started yelling at me. He then said that it would be 200 rupees per bag to leave our luggage there for the day (despite the sign glued to the wall that said services included free luggage storage). It's an old sign, he said. Safe to say we politely declined and the lovely people at the nearby restaurant, Jhankar, looked after them for us for no charge. 6) All of this was enough to make me want to leave a bad review. I was willing to look past the toilet that hadn't been cleaned it months, the terrible smell that plagued our room, the bird nest in the bathroom and the bed that emitted a plume of dust every time you touched it. They also have no longer have a rooftop restaurant as advertised. Save your money and go elsewhere unless you want to have your time wasted by someone who doesn't even bother to show up for his guests and instead shouts at them down the phone. The only redeeming factor was the Guest House's proximity to the lovely Jhankar restaurant.

On arrival during off-season I found myself alone in the empty lobby, wondering where everybody was. When a helpful young man eventually showed up I was given a choice of rooms ranging from small to rather large. The views of the fort from the rooms and roof were breathtaking. The room I selected was spacious, beautiful, and quite clean. During my three day stay I appeared to be the only guest, the rooftop restaurant was closed, and wifi non-existant. Cleaning staff were present every day in the stairways and corridors. There was abundant street noise, especially as it was during the time of Holi, but nothing unusual for an Indian city in festival season. Checking in and out was slightly inconvenient, requiring several short trips to the nearby Shivam Guesthouse where the owner had his office up on the rooftop. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and I would look forward to going back again.

Nice, clean and customer care Nice, clean and customer care

I spent several Nights between the Shivam Paying Guest House and the Ganpati Guest House. They are just 50 meters away from each other and managed from the same owners, in fact both guest house have a similar standard of accommodation, from pretty cheap to superior rooms. All rooms i have seen have attached toilets and hot shower and the value for money is honest. But what I appreciate more is the staff which always try to give to theirs clients all the attention they need. Any request, if not absurd, is taken under serious consideration. The location is one minute walking from the clock tower, but a little noisy, which is no concerning with the Hotels managment, but with traffic of a so central place. It is also true that if you are traveling in India, you might get habit of that kind of noise. In the Shivam Guest House, you also have a good restaurant and an amazing roof top, facing the entire Jodhpur. The only difference between the 2 Guest House was internet... Excellent in the Shivam and so so in The Ganpati. Nothing to regret during my staying Here... absolutely suggested...
