Very pleasant atmosphere, good food, frendlly and interesting trevelers. Price is ok. If you need some extra info or service Tsetan is always there ready to help you. Not the nearest to the main bazar, but that is ok.
I just spent three beautiful weeks with my friends in Ladakh. Having a home-base at Tsetan-Guesthouse was a very important factor for the great time we had - and writing home-base, I mean "home"-base! Tsetan and his parents felt like a little, very warm-hearted family to us. Tsetan is extremly well-organized, helpful and flexible, he arranged transport (airport, hikes, trips to nubra valley...) and always managed to accomodate us in his guesthouse when we came back to Leh for some nights (we were also able to store some of our bagagge there while we were trekking). When one of our group fell ill in between, they cared for him and even prepared special food.
Apart from the warm and cosy atmosphere in the guesthouse (nice courtyard with flowers as a relaxed meeting-point with other travellers; cosy dinner-room in the evening;...) the rooms are also very quiet, clean and cosy. There is always hot mint-tea and filtered water you can get for free. Tsetan's mum is cooking dinner in the evening and it always tasted delicious (veg. food, fresh salad from the garden, momos...). I also liked the location - the guesthouse is situated in a more quiet part of Leh (which I felt is very enjoyable), but it's still very easy to reach the city-center by foot.
To summarize it: I couldn't have wished for a better place to stay in Leh! And the hardest part was to say goodbye to this loveable family in the end.
We deeply enjoyed our stay at Tsetan guesthouse! During our stay in Ladakh we came back several times and Tsetan and his family always managed to provide us with a room, even on a short notice. It soon started to feel like a second home for us! The rooms we stayed in were facing the lush vegetable garden and they were all very clean and comfortable. The family is incredibly warm-hearted, caring and fun: Tsetan is an organisational genius, his father is the most safe driver of Ladakh, his mother the godess of Ladakhi food (with mostly fresh veggies from their own garden). In the courtyard - the central meeting point of the guesthouse- we were always welcomed with fresh mint tea and enjoyed inspirational conversations with the other (mostly international) guests as well as the family.
Our stay at Tsetan guesthouse is one big reason why our holiday in Ladakh will be unforgettable for us.
Thank you so much!
We made Tsetan Guesthouse our home away from home in Ladakh for the month of July, while we ventured out on various treks, tours and monastery visits.
In many ways, Tsetan is like a homestay. From the moment you arrive, Tsetan and his family will make you feel at home, with lots of tea, comfortable living space and lots of advice about how to make the most of your visit. As we travelled to and from Leh, Tsetan was always flexible and accommodating. Even when we returned unexpectedly early from a trek and Tsetan was full, he walked us to another nearby guesthouse to set us up there until they had vacancy again. They even let us come back to use the space, use WiFi and eat dinner with them in the meantime, making us feel like it was still our home in Leh.
The food at Tsetan was some of the best we had in Ladakh. Dinners, home-cooked by Tsetan's mother, will introduce you to various Ladakhi staples (ie. momos, soups, and rice-based dishes). All the meals we had were vegetarian, and (trust me!) all you can eat. Many of the ingredients are grown in their own organic garden in the back.
The space is fantastic. The common spaces and bedrooms were beautiful, clean and well lit with beautiful views of the mountains around Leh and the family garden. Tsetan is at the end of Upper Changspa, which is walking distance from the Main Bazaar, great restaurants, tour agencies and shopping areas, but enough out of the way that it can be a peaceful, quiet escape when you need it to be.
Tsetan has a few different WiFi networks to connect to. I often had connectivity issues, but note that this is a common issue in Leh and likely beyond Tsetan's control. (If you require consistent WiFi access, there are other places you can go in Leh during the day or I'm sure Tsetan will be able to help you out somehow.)
Its hard to describe just how much the family will go out of their way to make your trip smoother and to make you feel at home. They will check in with you as often as you need, help you to book, call and organize, and will even taxi you around if required. Everyone staying there seems to have a story about how Tsetan and his family went the extra mile for them.
I can't recommend Tsetan highly enough. Quite possibly the best homestay/guesthouse/hostel I've ever stayed at.

We stayed in a number of different rooms at this homestay and all were great! The owners of the guesthouse were very hospitable and the cooking was amazing! I highly recommend staying here for an authentic and peaceful experience!
