Excellent View and Ambience Excellent View and Ambience

This place is located in Kakkabe approximately 25 kms from virajpet. The home stay is located in the peak and only 4 wheel drives are recommended. They arrange the vehicle to be picked up and dropped. The place is beautiful and not much of activity there. However one of the most scenic home stay and trekking is possible with prior information for the hosts to arrange the guide. This place was regarded as one of the highest collector of honey. They can accomodate close to 50 people and they have various cottage ranging from 2 beds to 6 beds. The food is veg and tasts good. Non veg and snacks will be provided on request and with prior notice to hosts. This staff are courteous and helpful. Overall a must visit home stay.. Please do not expect luxury service or Amenities.

went here looking for a post retirement place. but the place turned out to be a like an old age home. dull and depressing. from food to ambiance to company, everything was very uninspiring and dampening spirits.

Great location wasted by owner Great location wasted by owner

Excellent location with lot of fauna including snakes and frogs, and even a private waterfall. We booked only to do herping in the area and specifically asked and paid to book a naturalist. On arrival we were handed over a book and ask to look for frog species by matching them for the book, as the "naturalist" had gone for a holiday. The owner did not even have the courtesy to inform this in advance so that we could have planned elsewhere and not wasted our one day. The stay is very basic (and more so for the price), and if no herping was possible then would have stayed in a cosy hotel in coorg, and not choose this shabby homestay. To add insult to injury, on our way back (in their off-roading vehicle) we wanted to shoot a waterfall. The driver dumped us on the way with all our luggage. Had it rained (it was rainy season) we would have drenched with our entire luggage and cameras. Would completely avoid.

This is something you should stay at because all the sightseeing spots are everywhere. Warmly and familial approach by the owners and the best Kodagu food to energise. the local is green and dense. Little far from the main centre but totally worth. Those who are not interested in such zones should not even think about it.

Great location, poor everything else Great location, poor everything else

My 2 points are only for the location which is great. It is right in the middle of lush green coffee plantations and lot of greenery. The temperature at the top is at least 5-6 degrees less than other places in Coorg. Though we enjoyed our stay due to great location but everything else was very bad. The customer is not the king there - our feedback has not place with the management. Few bad instances are - 1. They overcharge for the food - breakfast for 150 with very limited options. They charge extra for eggs which is not mentioned any where - when we argued - we got the reply that we should have asked before. Lunch / dinner were priced at 250 - again high price for a home stay. 2. They claimed to provide hot water but on our day 1 of stay - we waited for at least 2 hours but did not get a single drop of hot water. On second day - though the water was hot but it was full of wood particles - since their solar system was not working - they burned wood, which probably got mixed with the water. 3. One night we asked for camp fire - after 10 minutes of lighting the fire - it just dismantled - the person who lit the fire was nowhere to be seen - we had to somehow manage our own for some experience. 4. They claim to provide home made wines and chocolates but were over priced. 5. The last but not the least - the management did not have courtesy to treat customers as king and listen to their feedback.
