We stayed at the Horizon Villa South for 3 nights in December 2020. We were a group of 8 with really young children. Our food and service arrangements were first class. Be it the portion sizes, taste, cutlery, crockery; everything exceeded our expectations.
The rooms are all spacious and washrooms are with shower cubicles with 24*7 Hot Water, heaters, power backup.
We also went for leisurely walks around the villa area, as the villa is a part of the Kora or Parikrama for the nearby Dalai Lama Temple. So there is a sporadic flow of monks walking across the pathway outside the villa gates the entire day. The place is super duper safe.
The villa interiors are done tastefully and shows the owners eye for detail, be it the pinewood balconies or the fireplace in the lobby.
The villas convenient location to the Mall, gave us ample opportunity to visit all popular escapes in McleodGanj. Everything was at maximum 15 minutes away walking. So you could start the day with breakfast in the villa, head up to Dharamkot for lunch, shop in the evening at the mall, go to the Bhagsu Temple and have the villa staff waiting with BBQ and Bonfire for you. Thats what we did.
So all in all, a perfect place to come with friends, family or stags and the villa and its team will not disappoint you. Lastly we were able to get the booking with much difficulty on our desired dates. This place is up there as the best and so high in demand
Best location, service, property

To the uninitiated,Horizon Villa gets its name from the beautiful view of the horizon from this property, as the sun is setting. I arrived at this place on the 15th of December 2020. First thing I noticed was the courteous smile on the faces of the staff. This instantly made me feel at home. I have a small baby so I was worried about her meals but the staff is so well trained. They helped in customizing the food according to our preference. When I spoke to the head staffer, I realized why they were so good at their work. They considered themselves as part of the Horizon Villa family. This reflected in every bit of their service. The room we got was super cozy, with high quality interiors but for me the highlights were comfy bed, instantaneous hot water and the ergonomic coffee table. We had requested for abonfire in the evening. It was a mystical experience for us since we were sitting outdoors in the midst of nature, yet so close to the Dalai Lama temple. The feeling was boosted by the barbecued food we were served.Pure bliss! The very next morning, we walked down to the main street of McLeodganj. This place is peaceful yet so accessible. I bet it can't get better than this.

Firstly, the location is great. Away from crowded hotels and market place. Only 500 mtrs from the main Monestary & enroute the Kora walk. One can enjoy the splendid view of the valley from the front porch, with monks walking by their kora walk trail.
Now lets face the beauty. It only comprises 3 rooms with a common sitting area. we booked 2 rooms of same category, however they were lot different. in 1 room microwave was missing and in other refrigerator. Meals are highly overpriced ( 1 tawa chapati for 25 rs ). Although breakfast is included in your package, they have a tiny and fixed menu. You have to pay extra for your kids milk and that too 50 Rs for a CUP of milk. If you have an early check out, they are not going to pack your breakfast, as it is against their policy.
WIFI connectivity is good though.
Guys, my advise is that only stay here if you really want to do kora walks or you have plans to visit Monestary multiple times in a day.

Great location if you want scenic views. Great sunset views right from the porch. Very good service from the in-house caretakers Joginder and Pawan. An exhaustive menu choice in their a-la Carte menu. On the flip, the upholstery needs to be changed on the sofas as it is getting worn out from multiple usages. The fans also had a coating of dust suggesting it has not been cleaned in a while. The quilts had stains but were changed immediately.
Overall a mixed bag.
Good location, helpful staff, but very overpriced!

Horizon villa is owned by 2 brothers but operated separately, hence the names North & South. Horizon villa - south is the ground floor of the villa (though the villa itself is located at a height so u still get a good view from south as well). Basically this villa is a holiday home, converted into a homestay type of a hotel. I stayed 2 nights in north and 2 in south. Here I write review only about the south.
First the positives-
1. Very good location, 500mtrs from HH Dalai Lama temple, though ~150mtrs of this is a very steep walk.
2. Nice common area to relax and enjoy the valley view.
3. Very courteous and helpful staff. I can go back to this place due to the hospitality of the staff.
4. Food is freshly prepared and served, and is very good in taste (I can vouch for vegetarian atleast)
Now the negatives:
1. I stayed in luxury room, which was not at all luxurious. I have travelled a lot and stayed in many hotels, this is not what you call a luxury room. Just because a small balcony type area has been created in a deluxe room, they now call it a luxury room and charge extra. The view from the balcony is of like a backyard. I have attached pics of this area to justify my stance. Very overpriced, I would rather stay in other cheaper room or find another villa/hotel in the same area at similar price. There are other good hotels nearby.
2. Ventilation in the room was not good.
3. Room lacked basic amenities like toiletries, bathroom/door mats.
4. Wifi is charged. Common!! Wifi nowadays comes in basic amenities and is free even in restaurants.
Overall a good place, I can go back for its location and service, but ofcourse prices needs to come down.
