Pretty French stay Pretty French stay

by A_mathure on November 27, 2018

Location centrally in the white town area of Pondicherry, Villa Helena is still the serene and calm once you enter the pretty French entrance. The lively courtyard with the greens is perfect set to sit, eat and read all day long. We had booked the ground floor room with the garden, which was simple yet beautiful. The massage facility is also quite good. We did not have lunch or dinner at villa though but the breakfast needs a little face lift to match up the beautiful stay. All in all a really good place to stay for a day or two when in pondy.

Colonial charm. Colonial charm.

We (family group of 6 adults) stayed here for two nights in early October. Good location. Amenities were adequate however the bathroom we had, although clean, needed a bit of maintenance and the shower wasn't great and the mirror was not usable as it was very old and tarnished. Rooms are huge and seem more so with the colonial high ceilings. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend this accommodation.

We stayed three nights at Villa Helena. As soon as we arrived we were really taken by the elegant furnishings and decoration. The layout of the guest rooms and setting of the restuarant/seating area around a courtyard garden gives a nice quiet feel to an otherwise busy end of town. Our room was spacious and well furnished, with tasteful soft furnishings too. The A/C unit wasn't particularly efficient, but we found that combining it with the ceiling fan cooled the room sufficiently! The Wi-Fi connection in the room wasn't great, but once in communal areas it worked fine. The staff were all very friendly and professional. We took advantage of the laundry service, this was very efficient and our stuff came back perfectly washed and pressed. We had several meals here. The breakfast (included with the room booking) was excellent; fresh pastries, pancakes, ground coffee and omelettes made to order. We had steak one night, which was delicious and a real treat having been in India several weeks and beef not being an option. I would highly recommend this hotel. It's reasonably priced and a great location for exploring the French town.

Villa Helena is a very lovely and quiet boutique property right on the busy Bussy street. It is very quiet and calm inside. The rooms are very comfortable and cozy. We had a very large room with high ceilings and a large restroom. There are no televisions to make your weekend even more relaxing. You can walk to the beach and other restaurants nearby. Overall a great experience and the breakfast was very good as well.
