I spent one night in Port Blair prior to my flight back to Delhi. Even though they knew of my arrival, my room wasn't quite ready and they spent 10-15 min cleaning it only upon my arrival. The room itself was very spacious with a balcony. The bathroom had outdoor ventilation (not sure why many Indian hotels do this, versus keeping it closed so that it can also be in a/c), but NO SEPARATION between the shower and toilet area. So, when you shower, water can go everywhere. The staff were hospitable, but also insistent on making sure payment was done immediately. To their credit, they did try to help me when I had some flight issues. However, I wish they reduced guest confusion about when meals are served. Instead of dictating a time, they left it up to me, but when that time arrived, they acted surprised and said it would be another 15-20 min. They seem to do minimal cooking in-house, and outsource the food from elsewhere.
