Welcome to Rishikesh the yoga capital of the world. O Rishikesh! I missed you so much. The kindhearted and hospitable people, unique culture, spirituality, history and the absolute breath taking view of the holy river Ganga. I went to Rishikesh to meet my friends for a 2 day 1 night trip (14/12/ 2020 15/12/2020). This time we choose to stay in The Great Ganga Hotel which is in the heart of the city. The hotel is about 20 km. (12 miles) from the Dehradun Jollygrant airport and about 3 km. (1.5 miles) from Rishikesh railway station. Before going into detailed review, I want you to know that this is Rishikesh. It is a small religious and spiritual city, so get you expectation straight and please come with an open mind. This visit was a special for 2 reasons. First, I was meeting my friends after almost a year and second, it was after Covid-19 crisis where the world is reaching new normal. So, hygiene and cleanliness is of utmost priority for any hotel. The resort premises are quite clean. Garbage bins are located literally every five meters. Hotel staff is doing a great job cleaning, sweeping and mopping. I liked that all the safety precautions have been met. Hand sanitisers were kept at the reception with disposable masks in case you forget to bring yours (like my friend). We stayed in Room A3f. It was two bedroom apartment (no kitchen), spacious, with beautiful view of river Ganga from the balcony. The apartment had a double bed in each room, a fridge, an electric kettle, cupboard and a dressing table. The bathroom were medium size, clean and had a bathtub with geyser. It also had a four seater dining table and a separate sofa area. We ordered room service and the food was simply epic. We had vegetarian food, no non veg and alcohol because this is Rishikesh. Mind you that the restaurant only open till 9:30pm (IST). The hotel offered local and international cuisine. We had pizza, pasta, manchurian, noodles, lasagne, cottage cheese, paratha, and tandoor. Each dish was equally good. We were on a short trip so we did not spend much to enjoy other amenities offered in the hotel. However, I was told by the manager that there is an upcoming cafe and a yoga wellness centre which will be ready in the coming year (2021). Now you may be tempted to spend all your time in the hotel. I, however, encourage you to venture out and explore local culture, meet local people, attend evening Ganga aarti and get adventurous! Conclusion - Should you come to visit Rishikesh? Absolutely! Should you choose The Great Ganga? Yes! You should give it a try. The best thing about this place is proximity and the view it offers. The hotel staff is absolutely fantastic, we do not have a single complaint and only good experiences with everyone at the resort. The Great Ganga management is certainly trying their best and we can see and feel it. The property is clean, decently maintained and is being slowly restored and rebuilt to be even better.

What a lovely stay it was! Starting from hotel location, Room quality, cleanliness, service, restaurant, view from room etc. was perfect. We stayed from three nights and loved our stay. We were given room no. 208 which is the only room having Great view of Ganga from your Bed as well as from balcony. Ask reception people in advance for this room. Every room offers good view of Parmarth Niketan and newly inaugurated Janki setu from balcony. Here are some highlights of this holel.. - Approx. 10 mins walking distance from Ram Jhoola, and 2 km from Tapovan - Nearest Ganga Ghat is within 3-4 mins walking distance - Hotel is located on a uphill area and 100 meter from main road and you can take your car on top to the parking area. May have difficulties for elderly people if going by walk. - Hotel is neat and clean and sanitized daily - They have inhouse Spa which was closed due to the pandemic Highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for stay in Rishikesh near Ganga Ji!

We stayed here in Nov 2020. The hotel is closer to Ram Jhula, abt 500mtrs. The hotel is excellent with view and hospitality. The staff were very helpful and food, service was clean and neat. The room balcony and hotel area offers a good view of Paramarth and Janaki Jhula, the new bridge. Hot water is available and Bisleri is provided. The rooms are good and spacious and offers good view.
