My partner and I spent a few nights at Glenora over New Year 15/16 so, writing this review in August 2016, I feel really guilty that its taken me this long to get round to leaving a review! This will be one of the easiest reviews Ill ever write, because Im not sure Id be able to think of a single fault if I tried! I loved the 2-3 weeks we spent around South India and our stay here was certainly one of the highlights of the trip. Everything about the stay was great, but I think Glenoras two greatest selling points are its stunning setting and the wonderful hosting of Raju, his family and staff. Its clear that Im far from on my own in saying that I cannot recommend Glenora enough!

Our stay at Glenora Homes was the highlight of our trip! We had 2 weeks in South India, and we visited 5 cities in 4 states. Glenora homes was the perfect antidote to the experience of big hustling cities. The rooms were excellent, the hospitality by Mr Rajagopal and family outstanding, and the location breathtaking! We arrived at the home during coffee plantation season. Mr Rajagopal took us on various nature walks and visits to tea estates. Couldn't have asked for a better end to our trip. We were there as a family with travellers ranging from the age of 6 to 69, and all were equally pleased. Waking up to the songs of peacocks and various other birds was definetely a highlight. If I had one complaint, it's that they fed us too much. The food is absolutely fresh, tasty and plentiful so beware :)

A beautiful setting with an excellent host. The accommodation was fairly basic with few amenities. It was a bit of a surprise to be expected to make our own bed! On our first night, dinner was a variety of Keralan dishes such as chicken or mutton curry, fried fish, cauliflower etc. served with home made wine (more like a liqueur) and lemon tea. The carrot halva for dessert was superb - the best dessert we've had in India. On our second day, after showers and relaxing on our balcony, the owner of the homestay took us in his jeep to Sunrise Point to see the sun setting over the mountains. Below the viewpoint was the deep valley formed by the river that had created the waterfalls. The valley contains some of the last virgin rainforest in India in which indigenous tribes still live - the forest is home to several species including wild elephants. In the evening, we were treated to another Keralan feast of various vegetables served on a large banana leaf accompanied by rice and a fish curry.

Any one of three aspects of this homestay would have made it memorable. Together they add up to brilliance. First of all the accommodation: to be able to look out from the bed, across the balcony, to the treetops and hills outside was an experience to enjoy every morning - the room was really attractive. Secondly the food: as good as any restaurant - at dinner, we were always presented with at least 4 main courses plus a variety of rice, breads and salads. There was never anything that was less than delicious; what a chef! Finally, Rajagopal, our host who was always extremely helpful. He walked us round his local estate drove us to the large tea estate nearby and organised trips drivers and guides. We'd definitely love to return.

Demo Trip We stayed in one of two premium cottages. Both were very lovely. I think the one on the left side as you stand behind them had a marginally better view but we LOVED the one we were in all the same.
