Margao is an easily accessible city by road, rail and metro and has a number of fast growing suburbs including Borda, Aquem, Navelim, Comba, Gogol, Davorlim and Fatorda. The city has a number of schools and colleges, which makes it one of the most populated places with local residents. However, like a number of other places, Margao has many destinations and sights as well. These include Anna Fonte, the closed market, the Shiv Temple and the Old St. Sebastian Chapel. Apart from these, Margao also has a number of other landmarks like the City Hall and Municipal Garden. The city has one of the most frequented markets by locals and tourists as it offers the usual specialties of the Goan cuisine. The city has a small number of hotels which offer suitable accommodation for all kinds of tourists. Set on the banks of River Sal, Margao is one of the oldest recorded towns in Goa. It is the commercial and cultural capital of the state and is the administrative headquarters for the South Goa district and Salcete taluka.
