I've traveled widely and I'm accustomed to simple, stripped-down, austere rooms. But I'm not willing to compromise on cleanliness. Adequate standards of hygiene were not achieved. The carpet was filthy and we didn't dare walk on it barefoot. The toilet didn't flush; bad news for many Western travelers in India. Squashed dead mosquitoes festooned the walls. The shelves hadn't been dusted probably ever, so that the dust had coagulated into a dirty sticky mass. The kitchen in the restaurant downstairs was terrifying; we didn't dare eat there. The bed was fine. No points deducted for the general dinginess and poor wear of the walls and ceiling, nor for the trash fire burning in the alley next door. I've rarely gone wrong taking the advice of TripAdvisor reviews, but this was one of those times. The manager apologized and said that my words were injurious to him; but given his desk clerk was unable to give me change from Rs2000 for a bill that came to Rs1300, it's hard for me to be sorry. Agra isn't Club Med but you can surely do better than this place, which I'd characterize as an unprintable phrase that rhymes with "spit bowl".
Bathroom was terrible. Only the bed was good in this hotel. Taj Mahal is 5 mins of walk what is also a positive, but the manager has that typical fake smile on his face all the time and charged as many extra as he could.
A friend and I stayed here for two nights while we checked out Agra. You can't get a better location, with a view of the Taj from the rooftop and a very quick walk to any of the entrance gates to the Taj. The manager here is absolutely lovely and very helpful, and will do anything he can to make your stay comfortable. Just be aware that the rooms are right on the street and the noise through the night is quite loud through no fault of the hotel's. The restaurant is simple and excellent and can be added on to your room bill. Unfortunately, there was no card machine available when we stayed so be prepared to pay cash if you haven't prepaid. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay.
The best part of this place is that it is right next to Taj Mahal (100 meters maybe). The rest is not so great! Agreed it is a budget hotel! but the hotel compromises on Hygiene which is just not acceptable. The floor mat outside the wash room was dirty and every time we used the washroom and stepped and walked further the whole room went dirt. Also the rooms is right on the main road so we had dogs and car honks disturbing us the whole night. Also the food at the restuarant is not great. Would not suggest to others but if you are at Agra only for the Taj Mahal (not for more than a day) and are on a low budget then you should consider this place.
Kind n help ful staff who make ur stay really great n always smile when they wirk for u. All the people arround make us feel like family also its a great place to visit with ur kids coz they wont let them be bore.
