we arrived quite late after a delayed train journey. I was disappointed not to spend more time at this hotel - large comfortable bed and room, good toiletries, good breakfast- left early for Taj- would recommend
The hotel is quite modern and the room was spacious. The bed was one of the most comfortable we had during our 3 week trip to India. No hair-dryer. The walls between rooms are quite thin and you could hear people talking but it was quiet overnight. The guys servicing the room were very nice but the reception staff were not particularly friendly and they and the restaurant staff spent more time talking among themselves than paying attention to their guests. They seemed more interested in the big tour groups-maybe the tips were better.
Food in the restaurant was very good.
The Retreat truly is an escape from the hustle-bustle of Agra's busy streets. The staff is unusually welcoming and eager to please. The hotel itself is modern and the rooms are comfortable with modern amenities. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Agra.
Average or below average hotel however located in not very attractive part of Agra City. But the double bed room I stayed in was spacious and clean (including the bathroom). Unfortunately drain in shower cabin was clogged therefore it was not very convenient to take a shower. But the biggest problem for me presented low functional wi-fi since I had to inevitably speak with my family at that time. Regarding that I contacted couple times the desk-clerk (by phone in the room as well personally). He has always promised me to solve the problem but as I found out later he did not take any action to really satisfy my need. After couple of hours I went to reception again when I met that desk clerk (young men) on the leave with motorcycle helmet in one hand. Then I was really upset and forced him to find a person that could at least restart the router. Finally one person did it and wi-fi started to operate much better. But that non-professional and ignorant attitude of desk clerk was for me simply unacceptable.
Writing this review is one of the hardest things I've done here at trip advisor, and i wasn't very sure if i really wanted to express myself or put sugar words in to this review. However, i will share my experience.
Arrived late at night after a very long journey from Delhi, it was a very tiring day after roaming around Delhi sight seeing, and if you've been to Delhi you can tell how awful is the traffic and how much energy it can suck out of you, so after spending 6 hrs on road trip to AGRA, we finally reached the hotel terribly exhausted at 11pm - and based on our schedule we wanted to wake up really early to go and see Taj Mahal at 7am. So we requested to have a slight late check out, however the two men at the receptionist didn't accept and they didn't wear the right attitude to put the request down gently, which left us with a negative feeling. The check in Process was fine and easy, we have booked a Superior room - which apparently was the same size of the standard room. So i went again down stairs to the 2 Receptionist men and I asked them if there was a mixed up with my reservations, so they replied saying that the Superior is JUST AS standard room but the difference is that standard room is double bed and Superior room is a king/queen size bed - Another disappointment.
Went to the room which was very clean, the bathroom was equipped well with the necessities, the towels are clean, our room was 212, just beside the Spa. but that was no problem, we had a good night sleep. Woke up the next day, went downstairs at 6:30, the restaurant was still close, there wasn't much of variety of food or drinks, It Took us 15 mins to get coffee and milk, Another frustration.
Nonetheless, this is the best Hotel location to go to Taj Mahal/ Red Fort, and we weren't very much worried to go sightseeing and be back by 11:30 to check out at 12 or else they would charge us an extra day , just another feeling of frustrated and disappointed to cut the day short.
We made it back to the hotel and was checking out with exhaustion, until a small kind word and a small gesture from Manpreet ( The Guest relation Manager) - it just took all the frustration and exhaustion away, she asked about our stay with a smiley face and she really really listened with care , and she even gave us some snacks as she knew that we were going all the way back to Delhi.
Sometimes it take the right attitude to do the small thing.
