Good Cheap Classic India Good Cheap Classic India

by Chris B on February 19, 2017

This hotel is a classic piece of India! The owner who speaks english is more than helpful and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are a little neglected but the bathing and toilet facilities are clean. The cost is very cheep I think. From the balcony you can look down on the street below that leads down to the market and many of the important sights in Ahmedabad. I enjoyed my 4 night stay here.

Awful! Awful!

by Gemma S on December 20, 2015

So we arrived and could only find this place that would accept tourists. We looked at the rooms and they were disgusting. Absolutely filthy. The walls were dirty and brown with dirt, the bed sheets were dirty, the bathroom was filthy. Red ants were everywhere biting us. He claimed there was a balcony which was actually shared amongst everyone in the hotel. He asked for 700 rupees which is terrible considering the state of the room. We ended up paying 600 just because there was nowhere else to stay. The owner was rude. He laughed at us and was unhelpful. We asked to keep our bags in storage for the day and he charged us 120 rupees and promised it would be locked up in a dorm with lockers. Turns out it was put in an open room with a sleeping Indian in all day. We complained and he informed us that if we wanted it to be locked up then we would have to pay another 300 rupees which is extortionate. We ended up having to sit with our bags all day just to ensure they were safe. Then he came in at the end of the day laughing and making fun of us for complaining.. After all of this the owner then demanded we give him a perfect review on tripadvisor, to which we laughed and here we are now. Definitely do not recommend a stay here!

Friendly but dirty Friendly but dirty

by Bezzox T on June 10, 2015

We chose this hotel because other hotel managers in the neighborhood refused to host foreigners (we checked 5 or 6 hotels). The manager of Cadillac explained that he is the only one with the license and that is the reason. The rooms are small and the bedsheets are dirty, but as experienced travellers we were prepared to it and took our sleeping bags with us. It's very noisy at night and during the day, so take your earplugs with you as well). The hotel manager is very friendly. If you happen to stay in this hotel during the kite flying festival (the end of January), you will have a chance to get to the party the manager makes at his place. It's a tradition: every year he invites all the foreigners from his hotel to have a dinner at his home with his 2 sisters and then fly the kites and watch festive fireworks on the roof of his house.

Demo Trip Room no 1,from hear one can see very nice views of city...

by virenderkhatrihshshh on September 8, 2015

Demo Trip It's a real backpacker's place with a big cheap dorm area. Or there are private rooms with a balcony.

by dianewanderer on April 29, 2013

Demo Trip Don't expect Western standards here; You can avoid dorms unless you you are running out of money. Avoid a room on the roadside to have a good sleep due to traffic.
