Not a patch on the House of M.G.
by ARVIND K on
This Hotel owned by the House of M.G. has only 6 rooms and is located on a very narrow and busy street near Manek Chowk. The breakfast spread is limited and needs to be pre-ordered. I stayed at the House of M.G. before staying here and I could see a huge difference. The wifi never works and there is just 1 boy to take care of the entire Hotel. The rooms are smaller compared to House of M.G. but big enough for one person to stay. The Hotel is surrounded by dilapidated buildings on both sides, which seems as though they will crumble anytime soon :) I would rate this place 4/5 just for the minor inconveniences.
Old Ahmedabad Charm
by Tanuj R on
Haveli II is located in the lanes & by lanes of the old town Ahmedabad, about 3 kms distance from the original House Of MG.
An old structure restored with old time look from outside . Modern ethnic styled room , very spacious & well appointed with excellent bathroom, wifi, mini bar & tea cattle . There is very limited food available although it is suggested to travel by free hotel transport to the the House of MG for breakfast /food.
Its in the middle of the congested old town, surrounded by dilapidated structures & narrow allies . Once inside the room with curtains down , its a nice experience in the room . Those who are fascinated by the old town charm, its an ideal location to explore the old town on foot . I do not recommend this place for business travel & also for not those who are not used to heat , dust & chaos of the old town .
Will I return to this place ? Yes, I think I will sometimes to explore the neighbourhood on foot , its quite fascinating for me .
The courteous staff is a plus , the unique location is an attraction for me.
Disappointing

Came for breakfast with friends, it was their first time visiting Ahmedabad so we thought a trip to the old city would be a good start to the holiday. The cafe had been recommended to us but sadly had very limited selection with most items on the menu unavailable. Service was slow and unhelpful. Much better service at the Green Room cafe at the House of MG.
Quirky, comfortable and colourful - an oasis in the old City

This heritage hotel is located in the middle of the Old City. As we drove through the narrow streets, I was becoming increasingly anxious, as the trip seemed interminable - I later realised the tuktuk driver was not familiar with the area. Then suddenly, it appeared - a colourful haveli, set back from the busy street.
My room was spacious, and my bed, very large. The room was clean, light and well maintained. It was very comfortable, and well decorated, with some considerations for aged or disabled - bathroom has rails and a shower chair. Rooms faced a central courtyard that was welcoming and filled with light.
Staff were most helpful and friendly.
My only regret is that I stayed one night - next visit, I will take advantage of this wonderful and inexpensive accommodation option, so close to markets, transport and the daily hustle and bustle of the old city.
Behind the curtain in the middle of the old city

This is an old haveli ( merchant's private house) turned into a heritage hotel.
It is located in the middle of the old city, just away from jam and noise.
I am amazed by the work made in order to re-use all possible pieces of the previous house structure. Ingenious, very clean, very cozy. A must in Ahmedabad. Mangaldas Ni Haveli I is just in the next tiny alley on your left when you step out of Mangaldas II.
Food stalls at night just 2 minutes walk at the chowk on your right when stepping out:
