I stayed in Ramada Ahemdabad for one night. I was on a business trip. My experience was terrible with almost everything. I have stayed in many other properties of Ramada in India and abroad but this is no way in those league. Later I searched on the web to find out that it is franchised by Ramada to some Sankalp group. Ramada is not running this hotel. So don't expect anything of Ramada level from them other than the room & other services charges. I stayed in room 406. Don't stay in that room. Reasons below-
Overall property condition:
I was expecting some better & bigger property under Ramada banner. Facade is quite small and not having any great decorations other than a Ganapati Ji murti lying there in very undecorative way. Lounge was similarly small with very less decorations. The table of duty manager and another stuff gives you the impression that those are make shift arrangements. Reception area is not great but okay. There is no separate travel desk. It is being handled at reception only. On arrival they greet you with small glass of juice. Very simple. But I can still remember how Ramada Jaipur welcomed us with hand made sweets and chocolates, and how they keep on insisting on trying some more. Every time my kid visited the lounge area in Jaipur Ramada, the manager their offered something or other to him. This shows how you treat your guests. Jaipur also offered some hot face towels, here that was totally missing in Ahemdabad.
The most pathetic check-in process I underwent in my life. In a single sentence- I checked-in alone without any assistance from anyone right from the reception. Searched for the lift, then wasted my time to search for the exact room etc.
"Pathetic" should be the word to describe the room Condition. Now as a checked in alone, after taking couple of minutes of rest I just went through the room and checked what all amenities they were offering. Now came the surprises.
The TV screen was damaged. It was cracked and showing lines in the left lower part. Color was not correct, red was pink, blue was green. I put that off for rest of my time.
Overall lighting was very insufficient. I had to switch on all the lamps including table lamp to get a good view of the room.
And lo! The bath tub was vanished. Ah at last I have found a Ramada room where there was no bath tub. Basin and toilet is clean but surly shows the marks of over use and being old. Not Ramada experience. You can find green tape of wiring coming out from the back of the lights. So now I checked for what are given in toilet. No I am wrong, I should look for what are not given. The list goes like- no dental kit, no shaving kit, no comb, no first aid kit, no slippers etc etc. I called up room service and asked them to provide those things.
Everything was looking great here. But later before going to bed I found out that one pillow cover is really dirty and I can find some yellow-green color fungus formation over it. I threw it away on the floor. As I was staying alone, so it was not a problem for me. But ok, I have found one Ramada where you can find fungus infested pillows on the bed ready to receive guests.
View from Window:
Nothing great was outside. I checked it once in the evening and once in the morning, and decided to pull the curtains. One annoying thing about the window was, they have fixed a light outside the window for decorations. But if you remove the curtain that bulb will throw light directly inside the room. But you can't switch off the light. It is controlled centrally. So if you have the habit of sleeping with the curtain open then you'll be sleepless. But around 11:30 they put out the blub so at least they has some sense regarding this.
My plan included a complimentary breakfast. Menu was ok. Quality was good. But the Ramada factor was missing. They must visit other Ramadas in India at least to improve their offering. I didn't like the taste of their tea.
Check out process:
They took time, even after I called them up in advance and told them about my urgency. No body showed up. I came down alone to reception desk after 15mins. Now comes the billing part. They follow a very funny billing process. It is like credit and debit account. It shows how much I paid in advance and how much the returned etc. And no where is the bill it was written what is the total bill amount they are charging from me. The cashier tried to make me understand that I need to calculate the amount from the credit - debit figures. How funny. I was on a business trip and after the trip when I'll submit bills then I need to follow up with calculations. Is that the purpose of a bill? After some shouting they just written the bill amount over the bill by hand and put a stamp over it. I have stayed in many hotels but never found this type of funny billing structure.
Now I have settled the bill. I am free. Left the hotel in hurry. Never going back again.
Best of luck for the people who are going to give them a try even after going through my review.
I stayed here for 1 night while transiting Ahmedabad, the check in took little time. The room was quite good for comfortable stay. There was a problem in the refrigerator and I complained, first they try to fix it, but on second complaint they replaced it. Food quality was good but in room dining used to take a long time and had to send 2-3 reminders for the same. Based on the prices of in room dining menu they are not flexible as other hotels of the same category are. The breakfast was quite good and upto the standards. Again the check out took little time and I had to push them to do the needful as I was getting late for my flight.
Room was spacious and well maintained. The weighing machine inside the room was not working, rest everything was perfect. Food is good, though service speed can be improved a bit. They cancelled my dessert order after half an hour of ordering, stating unavailability.
Check in and check outs were prompt, courteous staff. 4.5/5 overall
a. The hotel & room are of high standard.
b. The buffet breakfast is good quality & wide spread.
c. The non-veg BBQ type dinner buffet on the 1st floor is useless. Hardly any guests, overpriced & over-rated. Since there are hardly any footfalls, the meats & fish are cooked directly from the frozen state, without proper thawing.
d. After the initial 2 nights confirmed booking, I had requested that I would extend as required on a daily basis & had been assured of availability. However, after 2 nights, I was shocked to be told that I had to compulsorily check out immediately.
e. I emptied 1 room & came down to settle the bills for both rooms, while my cousin was getting ready & packed. Felt terribly offended as the staff would not allow me to clear the bill of the 2nd room till they had inspected the room & mini 'bar'.
