The House Of MG is the best heritage property situated at the middle of Old city of Ahmedabad- the first World Heritage City by UNESCO!! this hotel suits the title of the city and very near the old city, market and monuments. also the delicious vegetarian food served here too
This is a beautiful hotel. The environment is truly lovely and the ambience is relaxing in such a busy country. The rooms are very large and beautifully decorated. The service is very good. I would highly recommend a stay here. There was a beautiful textiles display available to see, free of charge with in the hotel.
Mosquitos, dusty and dirty rooms, indifferent rude staff especially the manager who is nonchalant and patronising. Green restaurant serves mediocre food. Some dishes are not made fresh in the evening. Requested to move rooms - they showed me one where there was a leak, another which had a pubic hair on the toilet seat and stank of damp. The waiting staff and food room service staff are courteous but at front desk and management have very little customer service skills. Stay somewhere like the Marriot.
Two of Ahmedabads prominent merchant families, the Mangaldas and Girdhardas, have redeveloped their homes into an elegant hotel overlooking an historic Mosque. Its ideal for travelers interested in exploring this UNESCO Heritage City. Mr. Saiyed Badrudin, a knowledgeable and very personable guide from the hotel, took us on two outstanding tours offered in the hotel websites Curated Experiences - the Morning Heritage Walk and the Architecture Tour. (Note: If youre interested in visiting notable works of modern architecture like Louis Kahns IIM, Doshis CEPT or le Corbusiers Mill Owners Association Building, be sure to arrange permits via their websites well in advance of your visit.) The hotels sprawling rooftop restaurant, Agashiye, serves delicious set thali menus under the stars, while the airy Green House restaurant off the lobby offers a very good buffet breakfast and more varied fare for lunch and dinner. Service is friendly and professional. We stayed in a quiet, spacious and beautifully appointed Heritage Suite in the main house. Housekeeping was friendly and flawless.
This Boutiquelike Haveli had it all for us after ten days in Gujarat. Good room, good beds, good shower, great Thali-food on the rooftop terrace, including lessons how to eat with your hands, helpful reception staff, nice sitting areas on the ground floor, outside breakfast- and lunchrestaurant. For a walk from the hotel to the old centre of the town you need to cross a very busy street. Tip: wait for a local who wants to cross and follow him on his heels, even though he seems to commit suicide: he knows what he is doing. Youll reach the other side of the street safe and sound
