We did the 3 nights yoga retreat. Jessy the yoga instructor was a delight to see twice a day. She was so happy and passionate about yoga and a great teacher. My practice definitely improved during those 3 days with Jessy's instruction! Also doing yoga outside surrounded by nature was beautiful and peaceful. The room and the resort itself are amazing! Beautiful location with the beach literally at the back gate. Because it's about 3km from Alleppey beach, the resort beach is super quiet with only local fishermen about in the morning and local kids playing football and practicing drums in the evenings. Otherwise you have the whole beach to yourself! And its a lot cleaner than Alleppey beach. It really is paradise. The photos dont do this place justice! The ayurvedic food was delicious and more than enough each meal. The family of cats that watch you eat 3 times a day are just adorable too. The ayurvedic massage I had was divine! Exactly what my sore and tired muscles needed. I suggest you take the massage on your last night there. My partner said his was just ok. Lastly, the staff at Beach Paradise were amazing! So lovely and accommodating. Thank you for the wonderfully relaxing retreat! The only negatives we had was the wifi situation. It's only available in the restaurant or reception which is fine. But sometimes another guest would borrow the portable wifi device to use in their room which was annoying but the manager always got it back for us when we asked. It was nice to have limited connection to the outside world anyway! Another thing was the payment. We had to pay on card because we had no cash and their eftpos machine wasn't working so they got a tuk tuk driver to take us to 2 other businesses which were attached to the resort to try their machines. It took 2.5 hours out of our day to do this and it felt quite dodgy because we never got an itemized receipt for the payment and the manager was not there when eventually paid. But it all worked out in the end! I guess this is India after all! Lastly, the website advertises that the yoga retreat includes an ayurvedic doctor consultation, which we never got, and ayurvedic massages (only 1 massage is included - maybe you get multiple massages if you stay longer?), and meditation, which was some meditation during the yoga classes with the yoga instructor. I was expecting someone to direct me on how to meditate - there was no special instruction or guidance apart from telling us to focus on our breathing. We ended up doing our own meditation on the beach which was great anyway! Despite all these things we had a really amazing time and would definitely come back and do it all again!
