pleasant experience pleasant experience

Stay in Kaits home is a pleasant experience.. Me and my girlfriend visited allepey for Nehru trophy boat race... We reached the location in the afternoon after a long tiring late travel from Bangalore..but Joshy the owner surprised us with yummy food and made us feel homely.... Rooms are clean..neat and food is just awesome...typical Kerala food both veg and non..Stay is right near the lake with a good traffic of houseboats zooming around.... Suggestion : Take boat from Allepey to nedumudi and then take a auto Kaits or bus from allepey if you don't want to spend too much on auto charges(allepey to Kaits home auto fare : 400/-approx) . Lazy, cosy , place to do nothing or do many things.... I will really recommend to my friends.. thank you Joshy and family for all the good service and food

Relaxed Backwater retreat Relaxed Backwater retreat

We enjoyed our 3 night stay here, prior to taking a houseboat for 1 night. The set up here is several simple cottages, surrounding the main family home, all backing onto a pretty part of the backwaters with a lovely pagoda over the water for sitting or dining. The rooms were well equipped and comfy, the food was good (breakfast & dinner), and Jossy was a great host, almost to the point of being over-attentive to our needs. Our kids and us loved the option of using the kayaks to paddle along the water, and we also really enjoyed our evening walk through the local paddy fields and countryside, and our morning trip into Champakalum village. The village was great, surprisingly diverse range of shops (we bought some local gifts, had a haircut, ate a thali lunch in the local restaurant and stocked up on some bakery snacks). Jossy's family have been in this area for 14 generations. We thoroughly recommend the ferry journey from Alleppey to Nedemundi to get to Kaits place....the overview of the backwaters was much better and more enjoyable on the ferry journey than the overnight houseboat. (ferry ride 2 hours, 12 rupees per person from the main ferry terminal in Alleppey - bargain !). We were there in low season, some maintenance work was being done on a couple of the cottages whilst we were there (I noticed another review saying that this was due). We would definitely recommends Kaits.

Nice location, need maintainence Nice location, need maintainence

Kaits Home is about13-14kms from boat station and a large part of road is not lit hence we were a bit sceptical of choosing a home stay at Champakulam. Our room was big with four beds, tv and air conditioning. I liked the open to sky bathroom concept. The next morning we got real feel of the place. This place is more like living with nature. The location is very nice next to Pampa river, lot of trees including a few spices, cocoa bean, coffee, mango, pineapple, chikoo, jackfruit, coconut and banana. But the entire place could do with sprucing up.... general cleaning and maintainence. A tour across the river into the rice fields and plantation was very interesting. The food served was very tasty and homely. Overall I found this place nice but a little on the expensive side considering the condition of the resort

Home away from home Home away from home

There are not enough words to describe my gratitude for the host family at Kait's home. They were so personable and welcoming. The staff and the kids of the family were very helpful and friendly. They booked a motor boat for us and even made coffee for all of us very early in the morning, upon request. Breakfast was served right by the back-water and the yummy food made up for a wonderful morning. The home is 200 years old that belongs to the family's fore fathers. The room is modest but very comfortable with all the amenities we needed. I would like to wish the family all the very best!

I stayed with family and kids for 2 nights, it was one of our best stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was awesome, homemade and authentic, served at very good dinning area on river side. Very good location and scenic views, refreshes you throughout the day. They have the kayak boats, we enjoyed a rowing those boat through river and narrow canals. Kids enjoyed the fish catching activity from the fish trap pond. I will defiantly stay there again and recommend it to all travelers. Tip - carry odomos cream, mosquitoes are crazy during late evening.

Demo Trip ours was on the left facing the river - and the room on the far left facing the river has a quirky outdoor bathroom which looked great.
