"Wayside inn" is a beautiful house situated at the center of the town. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned, the rooms have attached bathrooms. The decor of the house is most certainly welcoming. The place has a large collection of beautiful bells and vintage clocks. The hosts are lovely folks who are ready to look after all our requirements. The home cooked food is amazing and mouth watering. I would absolutely love to stay at this place again. Anybody looking for a home away from home, this is definitely the one.
The 'Wayside Inn',just as the name suggests is located just at the centre of the little town with easy access to all the must-see places in Alappuzha.
A very beautiful house decorated to be aesthetically pleasing with a modern yet traditional feel to it.The rooms here are extremely well kept. The bathrooms are clean and the huge windows with cool breeze coming in just makes you feel fresh and rejuvenated early in the morning.I absolutely loved the way the house has been kept, with a collection of bells and vintage clocks, staying here is an experience in itself.Uncle has a special affection for vintage clocks and he has quite a collection here, ranging from the ancient job clocks to huge marine clocks, and the dedication with which he winds every single clock on Sunday's is a sight to watch.
Coming to the best part-the food of course.Rani aunty happens to be an excellent cook and the food here is simply the best you can get.On our first day here we had the North Indian delicacy, battura and channa. This is one of her specialties,be sure to try it when at the Wayside Inn,soft butturas teamed with a perfectly spiced channa curry, made our first breakfast here truly delightful.Aunty makes authentic Kerala style Prawn Biryani, she also has a knack for Continental food and we also tried her special Pasta with Garlic Bread and KFC style Chicken which was absolutely delicious.Oh and how can I forget, the creamy custard pudding and biscuit pudding made by her daughter Reshma.
The family is really wonderful and our stay here was truly delightful. We were also taken to Uncle's Coir Factory,it was a great experience to see how export quality place mats and rugs are made at these huge and meticulously working factories. We also had a chance to see the Alappuzha Beach, the Lighthouse,Finishing Point of the Famous Boat Race that happens once a year,a fleet of House Boats parked-a beautiful site indeed, there are also other beautiful scenic places like Vagamon, which is a great place to go to for a one day trip from Alappuzha.
A very loving family comprising of Ammachi(grandma),Aunty,Uncle,Tharun and Reshma. The house also has a beautiful well kept garden with a variety of plants, including one that blooms only at certain times of the day,we were quite fascinated to see it.They also have a small fish tank with Lotus stems. The family has been staying in Alappuzha for a long time now and they are well versed with the location and all the nearby places.
Overall my stay at the Wayside Inn was a truly memorable one and I would love to go back sometime. So if you are looking for excellent home cooked food and an extremely comfortable stay, then this should be your go to destination in Alappuzha
