Well, Taj is synonymous with great hospitality - however, our experience with Taj Vivanta Aurangabad has been by far the best Taj experience ! The layout and architecture is very nice. The location of the Hotel is convenient. The rooms are nice with a small balcony overseeing either the garden or the pool - some have a swing in the balcony too ! The pool is large and has several hammocks around for a lazy afternoon ! The food at Latitude is amazing ! But even more amazing is the service of the staff all the way up to the Chefs !! The package included sightseeing by car which is very convenient - we however chose to see limited points only. Very courteous staff and a brilliant experience !
Aurangabad trip was in my bucket list for long time and when trip was finalized there was no second thought to decide on the hotel.
Reached Aurangabad in the afternoon and there vehicle were waiting for us at the station. The chauffeur Mr. Raees impressed us throughout our trip as he only took us to places for next three days.
Booked online in advance so there was no problem in check in , Greeted with smiling staff offering some refreshments . Soon we were taken to room which is spacious and nice in room facilities. Hotel structure is like a fort which gives you a royal feeling while entering the hotel :)
Next three days visited in and around Aurangabad and well guided by hotel staff and Mr. Raees who gave us pretty much all the info about the city and sorroundings.
Food is good and breakfast spread was awsome with many varieties. The attendants at restaurant were very friendly and surprised us with few things , overall was very impressed with their behaviour.
Last day we had to checkout at noon but our train was in the night and they provided us a room without any charge even when we did not ask about it . That is why Taj is different
We had a very nice stay overall and this will be our first choice if we visit Aurangabad again in future.
While this is an older property (40 yrs) it is clean and the service was very good. We had a nice large suite with 2 bathrooms, living room and bedroom. The spa while quite small was one of the best massages (deep tissue) that I had on the whole trip of 6 weeks.
We drove down from Mumbai on Dec 31st to spend New Year eve here. 6 hours of driving just for a night thinking that we will have a great celebration keeping in mind its Taj Vivanta. But in reality, we were very disappointed.
Firstly, the charge was 10,000 plus taxes for a family of four for the gala dinner. Quite understandable keeping in mind its Taj brand. Secondly, no alcohol in the gala dinner. Again understandable keeping in mind they gave us some gyaan that the hotel falls near the highway and as per the recent govt ruling, booze cannot be served. Ok, reluctantly accepted and understood. The last nail in the coffin was that they said that gala barbeque evening out in the open with Maharastrian folk singing and dancing. That was enough. How can you have folk dance and music as New Year eve gala dinner celebrations. How boring and non-happening. I don't know if I am over reacting, but I felt a new year eve party should be really happening. Some peppy music, opportunity to dance, booze, etc.
So, we as a family opted out of this unusual activity and instead had a quiet dinner at their Chinese restaurant, Tea Leaf. The dinner quality was above average and the surprise was the availability of a pork dish though its taste was average. Nothing home to write about. And then went to our room and celebrated for some time before having a quiet end to the day.
In the afternoon, we also had lunch at their multi cuisine restaurant, Latitude. Here again, they usually don't serve alcohol. Alcohol is only served at the bar from 3.30 pm onwards. So, what happens if you want to have a drink before lunch? Well keep imagining. Somehow, they agreed to serve us basic drinks like beer and few mocktails before lunch at Latitude. Thanks for little mercies. Next day breakfast at Latitude was very nice. Good spread and very good quality. Our compliments for a good breakfast deserving the Taj name.
Rooms were big with nice balconies facing the garden and the swimming pool. No complaints on that. Airy and flushed with natural light the rooms were nice. The master bed was very good and we got very good quality sleep.
Another big disappointment was the quality of service. For room service, you would have to call them more than once. They informed us about complimentary fruit basket. We called for the same on Day 1, it didn't come. We had to again call for it on Day 2 and it finally came. To have the extra bed put up, I had to call them twice. It seems there are some communication gaps as they have this facility of an "ASK" button on the telephone which you have to press for anything and everything. Now somebody must be passing on the requirement to the necessary department which is where there must be a gap. You don't expect that from a Taj hotel. All the staff have been very well trained to smile and wish every customer. So much so that sometimes you feel it is rather forced. How do all this matter when you fall short of completing your basic services in one call.
So, for 1 night we ended up spending some 23k and had no memories what-so-ever.
Now they have sent me a Taj Inner Circle club membership invite. Should I accept?!!
Had a wonderful stay at the Taj recently. The room was excellent with an excellent view of the garden - very peaceful and serene.
Most impressed by the staff in the restaurants - lots of warmth and personal touch. "Icing on the cake" was a touching Bon Voyage message with a pastry on the last day.
