- Nestled away from the maddening Bangalore traffic, a perfect weekend gateaway - we reached the property from Koramangala, Bangalore in about 4 hours - The cottages are perfectly designed for a peaceful stay and are perfectly spaced from one another to offer privacy to guests - The cottages have no wifi, TV and playing loud music is not allowed post sunset (if you are a party animal, who likes to get drunk and dance all night long- then please stay away from this property - The food is damn good, simple homely food, non-greasy and not super heavy (like other star hotels) - Washrooms are huge and you can enjoy shower with a overhead glass ceiling (it's partial- don't worry, nobody can see you when you are having a shower apart from monkeys- if they are around you) - I would definitely recommend this place for families and friends who are looking forward for some time-off, chit-chat, eat and drink - Please do enjoy the ayurvedic spa (only on appointments- the moment you check-in) please inform the reception for your slot - In the evenings, there is bon-fire set with local tribals performing for 45 mins (they explain the anthropology of Gorukana tribe and how they are related to wilderness)
We went to BR hills for one day. We were not really sure of the place and booked it one day before. The hotel staff are extremely courteous and made us feel at home. The rooms are too good and are super private (Loved the upper deck in the cottages.. Would be great for children!) Food is very nice and the menu is made such that all the guests will like what is served. The only suggestion that we had regarding the food was to include more native items like ragi/akki rottis etc in the menu. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back with our whole family if we get a chance,
We were 6 people & stayed in 3 cottages. Each cottage is sufficient for a family with 2 kids, because there are attic rooms provided with 2 beds. You can wake up early, laze on the attic beds while looking out into the early morning birdlife while sipping on hot coffee. At night the place was dark, quiet & relaxing accompanied here and there by the creaking of bamboo on the rooftop. The food is well prepared, tasty & of good variety. Pre dinner there was a great show put up by the local tribesfolk which was memorable. The Soliga tribesfolk are the ones running the place under the guidance of H Sudarshan & it is a very good setup as an eco tourism hotel. The BR Temple is very closeby. The guide Jedaiah was very friendly & had a good knowledge of the area flora & fauna while giving a tour of their village.
We went to BR Hills not sure what to expect, what we experienced was awesome. Wish we had 2 days stay here to enjoy it to the fullest! Special thanks for 1. All the staff working here are actual tribals from neighborhood, gives a rustic authenticity to the place. The staff is very courteous. 2. We got all the arrangements, as requested for our child 3. The tribal dance, entertainment stuff was fun 4. The woods-facing glass facade gives an excellent view of night sky for star-gazing Keep this in mind... 1. Options in the menu is limited, though what they cook they do well. We are a family of very non-fussy eaters hence this was not a problem for us. 2. Be prepared to experience nature, we saw a small scorpion living in the bathroom of our cottage 3. The cottage is best for accommodating 4 people, there are no room options for 2 people or singles 4. There are no signboards till you are in a 500 mtrs vicinity and that too a very small and faint one.
We went for a 2 night/3 day outing with friends. A very nice and different place. Each Cottage has 4 beds, one double bed and 2 individual beds in the mezzanine floor. This Mezzanine floor within the cottage is a good design. Rooms are clean and tidy for a place near a jungle. Don;t expect the tidiness of a star hotel, but they are good. They could have taken care some of the finer aspects like the bathroom door lock was loose etc, Food was also good. Though small spread, but tasty. This resort is run by a trust which is working on the development of tribals. Almost all staff are tribals and according to their qualification they are put in various roles. The staff is very friendly. Overall it was an excellent outing.
