This was the first cheaper accommodation that we encountered in Tala, as most of the other places are expensive resorts. It obviously used to be something special as the outside area was very nice and the rooms had little shaded verandas for you to sit out on. We met the owner who said that they would be renovating it soon. The rooms were very basic and the bed sheets were not the cleanest. We had to use our own pillowcases. The staff were very friendly when we arrived and we had dinner at the hotel. Despite us trying to ask the price before hand they could not fully explain the charges and there was no written menu. Booking onto a safari turned out to be a joke (we had to get up at 2am) so we decided to leave a day early. When we told the staff that we would be checking out they became not so friendly and the already bad English became even worse. When it came to paying, they tried to charge us for two nights even though we had only stayed for one; and dinner came to over 500Rs, which it was not worth. When we tried to question the amounts charged they were unable to explain properly (again related to language issues). Obviously as white foreigners we defecate gold. There is a cheaper and nicer lodge down the road (joined with a cyber cafe).
