The staff and the facilities are wonderful. Everyone takes the extra step of making certain that you are comfortable and pleased. The morning and afternoon safari's are a real treat and the knowledge of the guides is truly remarkable.

A warm welcome, a genuinely caring staff, awesome food (and plenty of it!), expertly done laundry, our own beautifully appointed and comfortable bungalow, morning wake-up calls with steaming hot coffee delivered to our door, and exciting safari rides .. who could possibly ask for anything more!

It was one of the amazing experience of our life to stay at Mahua Kothi, Bandhavgarh. It was one of the amazing experience of our life to stay at Mahua Kothi, Bandhavgarh.

Forest Luxury Forest Luxury

Taj mahua Kothi is located in a remote location of central India. The reason I say remote is because of the accessiblity issues. The property itself is well built - spread over a few acres. We stayed there last year and did enjoy ourselves. Room - village style hut with a courtyard - very model village hut. THe bathroom was also based on Indian village - which we loved. Looking out of the window from the room gives you a sense that your amidst the forest itself. Food was great - the chef came daily and asked what we preferred and made it for us. Coming to the safari's - The jeeps only leave at 6-615am - which is a little late than the private safaris'. By 630 you are clearing the gates - We preferred to mix it up with private safari's and we realised leaving early - by 630 we were deep into the forest and got a tiger sighting. Taj state its easier for the guests to leave late in the morning and late for the noon drive - which I personally think is not the way to go - you are here to sight the big cat - you have to get you bum up early and leave early. Push them to leave early and let them know about the same as you check in. Also the jeeps are large and comfortable. The size of the jeep becomes an hindrance if you have to reverse quickly and get to a tiger sighting very quickly - however you get a naturalist and a driver. food is sent along in the jeep as well. The only bad experience we had was with their deputy General manager- whose name I cant recall- who was full of concorted lies with zero customer service skills. Whatever customer service skills he did have was towards the foreign guest. I had escalated to their GM when he came back from the leave - hope they've either removed him or sent him away for some learning courses. Otherwise we did enjoy our stay. Enjoyed our safari, spotted lots of tigers. The next time we would do is to spend full day in the jungle instead of returning back to the room - it does cost more but if you're serious of about the big cat and some great photos once all the guests have left -its the way to go. You can also go on the elephant - again expensive but worth it. We took a train to jabalpur and got picked up. On the way back -we caught another train back to Bhopal and flew back to mumbai.

Demo Trip Some rooms are quite close to the lodge, others are a walk in the dark. You can get an escort, but we liked the walk.
