We stayed for 2 nights and three days here and the experience was very very good. It is located in bandipur national forest ( 3-4 km from forest office).
Location : it is a good location where in u can see wild life when going there. Great ambiance, food was ok considering the remote location. If u get a log hut then u can experience the knock on your front door in the night, well it will be Dears. They are plenty of them.
Rooms : we had both log huts and regular rooms. Both were superbly good, well furnished, clean, sheets were good, well stacked in house snacks and arieated drinks, bath rooms were clean, well laid out and up to date with modern amenities. You will have a balcony in all the rooms and best way to relax. There will be night Bonfire which you can enjoy if there is an enjoying crowed.
Restaurant : considering the location the food was ok. You cannot say as very good but it was better than good. You will get both continental and Indian , but Indian was very good. Lunch and dinner was ok. However soup smelt vierd. I didn't like it in all the days we stayed there. Since the is a remote location you dont have any choice, if u want you can travel back 2 km and you have other resorts, but mly before 6 . After 6 it is banned to move around as it is a national forest.
Games : you have snooker table, couple of books, cricket set.
Connectivity to cell phone is ok, but data speed is 2g.
Rooms are quite and sleep quality is very good
The property had just changed hands and the new management was getting into place and they were redoing the place, but they made us feel litrally as though we were at HOME. Went out of their way to insure that we were spoit. Rooms were very basic like in a jungle lodge.
The safari thoug was disappointing. Din't see much, just some deer and a couple of elephants, that too when it was time to leave and getting dark.
But I'm sure this place will be one that I would like to visit again SPECIALLY if the staff is the same.
DATE - 10TH MAY
We booked Cicada as it was no 1 property in Bandipur as per Tripadvisor. We stayed there for 3 nights on our way to Ooty. We picked this destination as my 13 year old son is always keen to visit wild life sanctuaries.
We reached hotel before checkin time but were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready for us.We had booked a normal room as the loghuts were under renovation. The rooms are very cozy and could easily fit 2 adults and 2 children. The interior is nothing fancy but we really enjoyed the rustic interior. Also there is a separate shower and toilet area along with a closet with safe and fridge. All rooms have a balcony opening towards garden.
In Cicada we were spoilt royally by the staff. Everybody was polite and helpful. The chef in the restaurant was terrific. He would come to the table and ask daily if we needed anything.Once my children wanted pastas for dinner as they were tired of having Indian foof. The chef happily made us pastas and garlic bread along with our choice of dessert.
Also for the safarai, we had a chanceto go with MR. J P who is a forest officer for years. It was a thrilling experience as we were taken to routes which were off the normal track. if you do visit please ask for a safari with Mr.J P as he knows the forest like bacak of his hand.
Overall a terrific jungle experince at the resort. I could not fing a single thing to complain about. It is best recommended for holidays with family or friends.
Although I am married for 3 years now, we never tend to leave an opportunity to have some wild fun. Talking of wild, we had been to Bandipur, the nearest wildlife destination near Bangalore to get adventurous. It's a nice weekend getaway, only 3-4 hours drive from Bangalore. We stayed at this fabulous place aptly called 'Cicada'. The hotel or rather jungle lodge is 2km. from the Jungle Check post. The inner roads however are mud roads mostly. The drive to the resort, which is located a little beyond the turn off to the park entrance, is a bit of an adventure in itself but once you're there you'll definitely feel it's worth the effort and probably find that it adds to the required atmosphere.
We decided to have some adventure and hired one of the spacious tents that seem out of an exotic movie with treasure chests and antique marvels. The beds are actually specially designed to give your body the perfect support and relax you almost instantly. Move a little further into the tent and you enter the washroom. Brilliant! That's the only way to describe them. The tents cater to natural splendour and look.
The fun doesn't end here! When we ordered for our first meal, we got a flurry of dishes, the kind of spread you'd never have expected in these wild surroundings. Simply put, the meals are excellent and individual preferences are catered to and that too with a smile.
The lodge has a reading section with a sizable collection of books on wildlife. The hotel staffs were always at their gleaming best. They arranged for a night safari which was simply superb. All in all a truly wild experience!
Cicada resort is a small and quite beautiful resort nestled in the wilderness of Bandipura. They have options of rooms or log huts. We stayed in a room and it was pretty good...had all the facilities, AC, Fridge,Tea Coffee maker, Bottled water....
TV was missing but I think it was a welcomed change !!
The room is spacious and clean, decor is simple but nice. There is a sit out outside each room to enjoy the fresh air.
The resturant is quite good. The breakfast had an excellent spread. In the evenings they offer kids mene...maggie, french fries ect which the kids love.
The staff is polite and eager to help you.
Overall an excellent place for a weekend getaway.
PS The pictures posted by earlier poster are not of Cicad .I think they are of Bushbetta where we had stayed earlier
