Monkeys everywhere Monkeys everywhere

by KrispyPlymouth on February 13, 2017

We stayed here for just one night but we arrived in time for late lunch which was very good. There were some items at the buffet but the chefs brought other dishes to our table. Very nice service and the veg curries were delicious. Our room number was 16, it was a fairly quick walk from the dining room through trees with monkeys sleeping in them. Our room was lovely because it had a huge picture window looking out onto the hotel grounds. What was really good was that from the window we couldn't see any other rooms, just the trees and grass. There was an outdoor seating area too. We were very naughty and put out food for the monkeys. They arrived fast and ate it within seconds, but we loved getting close up views of them. Inside the room we had a very comfortable double bed, a kettle for making tea or coffee and some biscuits were delivered to the room too, a very nice touch. The shower was terrific, almost outdoors and great fun to shower almost under the stars. We then went on safari and returned for dinner. Beetroot curry was fabulous, paneer kebab delicious too. Had a very good sleep in our double bed then it was up at 5.30 for safari time. The best thing about this hotel is that you see wildlife all around on the journey to the park proper. As well as monkeys we saw wild pigs, elephant, spotted deer and best of all Sloth bears! Breakfast was ready for us after we returned from our safari. It was a bit of a rush as we had to leave within an hour. Good choice of breakfast items including fruit, toast, dosa and eggs. This hotel is in a great location for going on safari, the restaurant is very good and the rooms are clean, comfortable and have great views. There are more facilities but I didn't have time to use them. Would love to return. Thanks to all the staff for a great stay. Pack a torch with you because it gets really dark and you might need it to help you find your way back to your room.

Loved this place! Loved this place!

The food was excellent! The swimming pool was large and clean. Lovely walk to the nearby villages. Great location. Literally in the middle of the park. We heard elephants in the middle of the night and monkeys were playing around the rooms pinching our cushions and clambering along the roof as we showered! The safari trip was not up to our expectations as we only saw 1 elephant and no tigers but plenty of deer and monkeys. A great stay and would definitely recommend.

"Amazing stay and great hospitality by the entire staff"

We being corporate employees combined our stay here with our meetings but really the stay was amazing be it a conference room, cottage, cafeteria everything is so wonderful. The arrangements were just excellent for our expectation. The staff are so amazing to name starting from the reception staff to be it with the security all are wonderful. Food just yummy thanks to the main Chef who helped us giving some gluten free food also. The F&B coordinator was amazing each time checking with us on everything we required. Naveen not to forget the bird watching and evening walk. Only regret is we could not spot any Tigers during our safari, but compensated with our lovely and memorable stay at the resort. "Thanks to one and all there in Windflower resort"

INCREDIBLE!! The BEST accommodation I've ever stopped at in India INCREDIBLE!! The BEST accommodation I've ever stopped at in India

by Hoppy22 on January 29, 2017

There's no words that can truly sum up this place other than PERFECT!! I was travelling with a group of 20 and I chose the Windflower based on it's eco status and the great reviews it had already received. In the interest of fairness, I will just mention the 1 single negative comment before I go on to tell you the amazing positives. The laundry service was by far the most expensive I'd seen in India. We did have a fair bit done, but most were just underwear and t-shirts, but I felt INR 1.450 was quite a lot. That said, it's insignificant in the greater scheme of things, and this is why..... The Windflower Resort & Spa is not only probably the best accommodation I've ever stayed at in India, but possibly in the world! Our whole group of 20 all agreed that the food was the best we had tasted in the whole of India, which considering it was a buffet, is high praise indeed. The Chef was a wonderful man and his passion for food, both cooking and presentation, can be seen by the food he presents, just amazing. So a special thank you to you. The rooms (especially the half open walk in wet room/bathrooms) were beautifully designed, massive in size and and had everything you could ever want. The staff were all lovely. The porters were always keen to help, the restaurant staff always on hand for anything we wanted (despite having to constantly chase off the cheeky monkeys!), the maids made sure that the rooms were we;; equipped and always spotless and the reception staff were always on hand to help in any way they possibly could, so a huge massive thank you to each and every one of you. However, I'm leaving my two biggest compliments until last. Firstly, the ethos of the Windflower. The Windflower is an eco-lodge, which means that every single they do is with the environment, the surrounding wildlife, local communities, sustainability, conservation, nature and natural resources firmly in mind. So you have a full activity list of local things to see or do, where trained, skilled and experienced guides will happily talk to you and educate it's guests on the history of the region, it's biodiversity, sustainability and explain all animal and bird lovers about the wild and rich wildlife in the area, some of it right on your doorstep.....LITERALLY! Which brings me on to my biggest compliment, the location. I've visited 2 National Parks in India before, but they were both 2-3 kms away from my hotel where you had to drive to the the starting point. The windflower is IN the National Park, so it's only 2-3 minutes away from the registration office. To highlight, let me explain. All 20 of our group openly admitted that we were a little dissapointed by Bandipur National Park itself, but that was all blown away by the fact that at any given time, we all seen (or heard) monkeys, deer, elephants and a myriad of birds actually right in the grounds of the complex. In fact such is it's close proximity to the wildlife that surrounds it, it's forbidden to leave your rooms after 10.00pm, as it's simply not safe to wander around at night. This was made abundantly clear when we went on a nature walk the following day, just to see a deer carcass hanging from a tree having been dragged up there by a leopard, but the tree was only 5 minutes from the lodge!!!! Trust me, there's better National Parks in India, but if you've decided to visit Bandipur, there is no better place to stay than at the Windflower Resort & Spa, you'll have the most amazing time there.

Stay was awesome. Even though the safari trip was not up to our expectations the stay in the resort was good. The staff especially the chef and his team were excellent. The support and the ambience was more than expected. Food and the menu was good.
