Went for a day outing with office colleagues. The place is famous for the cave like feeling and the waterfall inside. It's an average place, the food is pretty okay and the cricket ground is quite big. The pool needed some cleaning.
Reaching Guhantara was not an issue for us as the route was familiar and there were signboards all along. There was no welcome drink on arrival. We had taken a day's package. Our purpose of going to this place was just to chill and relax. Within minutes we realised that this place is not for us :) Guhantara is an outdoor activity centred resort. There are a number of outdoor activity options there viz. Cricket, Volleyball, Archery, Badminton, Cycling and stuff.. The fish spa was not that attractive. The lockers are placed in the middle of nowhere; There was no restrooms or changing rooms near to lockers as one would expect. There are no proper signboards inside the resort. One should wander through the everlasting tunnel with exits leading to various places. The food (vegetarian) was very much below expectations. Given that we were the last to eat the taste was not good altogether. We spent much time in a pool which was hidden inside the cottage areas as the Main pool was not as clean as we expected it to be.
Overall: Guhantara is a place to go only for Outdoor activities with not so good vegetarian food. The waterfall (when turned on) near the amphitheatre was good.
Value for money: 6/10 as most outdoor activities are paid in the day out package.
We visited this place very recently for celebrating my son's birthday. It was a disappointment. This place does not have enough signboards to take you there. With google maps, we went for a ride though a better road was existing. When you arrive nobody guides you. It is all by your own. There is no one to familiarize the place and no sign boards inside the property as well. They have a very poor scheme of paying for each ride at the counter. You find a ride or activity good to do, you need to walk up to the entrance to buy coupons. Each paid ride is like this. I took a coupon for Quadbike for Rs.200 only to realize that they had an extremely old quadbike, which had no safety measure to protect the riders legs, extremely tight handle bars and very small lap. It was totally disappointing. Then we purchased a coupon for archery and asked at the counter where the target is. They said backside. That's it. We were on our own to find the place without any sign board. If you are in a big group, they have lot of open space with lawn, where you can hang out. Two group of people were playing cricket. But why spend money and effort to go there if I can play cricket near my home. Lunch was served in an amphitheatre. The food was the worst I had had. The amphitheatre, inside the dark place, cemented floor, with so many people sitting around you, lot of litter around gave me a feel of pilgrimage than a resort. My 8 year old son, said it feels disgusting to eat here. It looks like prison. The amphitheatre was too noisy, echoes all sound, does not give any to talk to the person next to you. In short, nobody cares about you once you enter the place. They are concerned of collecting money properly at each place. Every place has board saying 'Smoking and drinking prohibited'. There were at least 5 occurrence where people were smoking in open areas. Nobody cares.Very poor worth for the money. Not a recommended place.
Guhantra resorts are not worth the money they take. They take money like a 4 star hotel but the basic things are not present in the resort. There was no hot water in the morning for taking bath. The room service was also not good. In the midnight, suddenly there was a power breakdown and the AC stopped working. When we checked, the intercom was also not working and it was too hot in the room. Somehow, we managed to get our room changed in the midnight. The wifi stopped working in the day time.
Though the day outing activities(zip line, bull ride, quad bike, zorbing etc) are good here and we enjoyed them a lot but still we were disappointed with the resort - quality of rooms and room service and management of the resort.
40km away from Bangalore, a nice welcome to leave behind air and noise pollution behind Guhantara is nearby to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ashram. Peaceful area with more stress on eco friendly self sustaining model. Inspired by numerous natural caves in Karnataka like Badami caves to name one. Couple of Tamil and other regional films are shot here.
Guhantara usually organises for a day package for corporates /college students. Lots outdoor activities are provided like cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, archery, horse ride, rope walks, etc, indoor wants has multiple swimming pool (swim gear is mandatory), carom, foosball, darting, table tennis and ofcourse the spa to soothe your nerves courtesy fish spa.
Post late breakfast, the much awaited / hyped rain dance follows for an hour. That energies the other wise sobered up young chaps.
The food variety is quite huge, well spread, though needs slight improvements in taste factor. However staffs are ever vigilant, promptly tending to guest's and are courteous.
In-house bar and smoking place available.
Parking facility is also present.
An ayurvedic doctor team facility is available, which also doubles up as an authentic Kerala massage center with professional hands.
