The washroom was smelling. The food is not good at all.
However, the hotel takes a good care of single travelling female guests.
The hotel is in a very good location near to MG Road.
The room was near to lift which is good for solo travellers.
I booked Hotel Paraag for what I thought was a nice price of Rs.1800 per night through Agoda.com . The night before my flight, while randomly checking, I discovered that the hotel had cancelled my reservation and agoda.com had not informed me.
The agoda.com helpline had a foreigner on it - he was helpful but there was a sinking feeling that this man would not be able to resurrect a cancelled booking. True to expectation, I was told that the Hotel could not honor the rate that I booked at through agoda.com and had cancelled my reservation !
The helpline man first gave me a choice of two alternative bookings on two other Hotels for the same price - which was not as great as it sounds because I found those two hotels listed at less than Rs.1800 online.
Then the agoda.com helpline stayed bus and I had to email them to cancel the booking.
i landed up at the Hotel Paraag and made them a offer they could not refuse. I said I would wait at he front desk till someone vacated a room and would they allot that room to me at the rate I had booked (Rs.1800+) ? Strangely, they gave me a room for Rs.1500 (with taxes, it came to Rs.2000 total). This leaves me totally confused - if they were going to give me the room at a rate less than my original booking, why did they cancel me at all ?
I never found out.
But Hotel Paraag was not 3-star as advertised. I would rate it as 1-star. The towel on the bath stand was dirty as if someone had mistakenly put the footmat there..
The best feature was its central location and the fact that my meeting was scheduled in the Ground Floor of the Hotel that day - so I saved hugely on time and taxi fare by staying in the Hotel and just walking down to my meeting room. Nothing can beat THAT convenience.
Food (lunch buffet) was good.
It is a nice and clean place with simple but healthy breakfast choice. The hotel is very well connected to important landmarks of the city. I have had the fastest check-in procedure ever in my life, it was done in just one minute. Mr.Vishvas was handling my booking and check-in, he is a very friendly and courteous person.i would soon be staying in this hotel again.
Centrally located near Vidhana Soudha and All India Radio, However, it shares its entrance with the more imposing, and better known, Hotel Capitol. Taxi drivers are often at a loss to find Hotel Paraag even as the GPS insists we are there. By the way there is a petrol pump and India Coffee House nearby and these two landmarks help find the way to the hotel. One way road is a problem so be sure you drive right.
The location is prime and so, cramped but rooms are spacious and bathrooms large.
Service is prompt, friendly and smilingly proferred. The shower is the best I have even experienced in any hotel but hardly any place to keep the shampoo bottle after keeping the soap on the tiny little shelf. and yes, there is a bucket and a mug too for those who want one. Lots of complimentary stuff...from dental kits, combs, shampoo, soaps, moisturizers to hair oil.The Indian visitor will surely appreciate the hair oil sachets...had never seen one before. Clean towels too.
I stayed there for two nights and almost three days. It was a conference so we had most meals here too. Food was spicy (read tasty but acid-reflux may be an issue) and there was plenty of choice.Every day. For the first time...ever....a hotel DIDNOT offer bread and butter/jam and cornflakes but went into the trouble to make all sorts of Indian cooked breakfast items...dosa, idli, rava, halwa, puri...with accompanying assortments of chutneys and sabji along with fresh fruit, juice,,,you name it. Hats off to the chef.
And I REALLY REALLY appreciated that the bathroom/toilet was private...no windows that looked into the bedroom. The bedroom windows overlooked hotel rooms so had to keep the curtains drawn at all time...absolutely no view worth even mentioning.
The room was extremely well furnished with Twin beds, a centre table, 2 armchairs, an extra chair, a sideboard, a cabinet, full-length mirror (so useful when wearing a sari) and TV. Electric kettle was provided along with constantly replenished tea/coffee sachets, milk and sugar pouches. The reception staff was really efficient and helpful. Oh! And Free Wi-fi. Room was cleaned and beds made everyday without the staff needing to be reminded...truly appreciate this silent service by unseen guys.
My stay was comfortable and I have NO HESITATION in recommending this place for families.
The amenities suggest that this may have been a good place many years back. But, now its very old and has not been maintained at all. The rooms, bathrooms, restaurant, elevator...all look like they have never been maintained for since the 1980s...the rates are very economical..considering the prime location....but the place is really dull. The staff is helpful, but not professional.
