A true Eco resort , Our Native Village on the outskirts of Bengaluru is a good place for a family break and also popular with corporates for team building.
The 25 rooms have basic amenities , made of local materials the rooms remain comfortable without any air-conditioning.
A variety of activities from flying a kite ,to traditional games and an activity room with some indoor games keeps all occupied. A Bullock ride , pottery , seeing cows being milked and if you re interested to do so yourself , a bon fire are other activities u can think off.
A water pond doubles up as a swimming pool.
The restaurant serves fixed menu buffets , food wholesome and tasty. For those wanting to remain connected ... the wifi is pretty decent.
1.Carry a cap/hat
2.Use mosquito repellant ( they had thoughtfully provided it in the room)
3.The mattresses were a little hard.
4.Last stretch of the road leading to the resort is through the Hesargatta Grass lands .. check your tire pressure as road is not great.
5.If planning to visit nrityagram close by , plan your timing to coincide with the classes there .. usually upto 12.30 and closed on Mondays and other holidays.
As the title suggests visited the place with my team for 1 N. Descent food, secluded place, courteous staff and quite a few activities to get your hands ditty (literally) earna a 3 star rating but I' ve rated four ( additional one star) for the attention we recieved from the staff as we weee the only guest since it was a weekday.
We chose this resort as our christmas getaway, as i was not fit to travel far from bangalore. The place did not actually disappoint us. Not much to do for two days, but if you want to have that relaxed holiday and a child who loves to play in water, this place is definitely a good choice. Considering the no chlorine, yet clean pond, we had no regrets chosing place.
It's a decent sized property with decent village set up. The carts available for an hour, the pottery section with a grumpy potter, and a village game play ground with a super enthusiast helping everyone to play the local games. They had a few tops, kites, catapult which added to fun.
The best part was the clean open kitchen in the dining area, and we could directly talk to the chef who would customise the order for us.
Rooms had no nonsense stuff, and as they said it right, its eco friendly. No room heaters, no iron box, no hairdryers.
There was no intercomm. This was not good as i had no network in the room, and everytime i had to contact the reception/housekeeping , i had to go out.
The resort wore a very deserted look and i hardly found the staff outside in the nights.
Not the right place, if you fear animals. Dogs(they claimed that they maintain them) were roaming free and i had a bit of bad experience there with the dog barking at me and my toddler.
Its a super pet friendly place (good for pet lovers), but i had a shock when i saw them roaming free in the dining areas too.
The front desk receptionist was unfriendly on the first day.
overall it was a good experience.
Kindly check your package before you reach there, else you might have to pay 3k for a buffet and lunch which is definitely not worth that price.
We decided to have Our Native Village for family day outing of about 20 members and were very disappointed with the facilities and service provided. Everything was below expectation and definitely wasn't worth for the money. Please visit before making reservation don't go by their website pictures it is very deceiving. Don't know who give 4 star rating for such a pathetic place. We faced many issues and there were lot of concerns that I have summarized.
-PATHETIC Roads, its muddy and bumpy and there are no proper sign boards from hesaraghatta bus stop.
-Food is below average and I have severe doubt about hygiene.
-Spa room provided was very filthy and no water in rest room, despite complaining nothing was fixed.
-Bicycles are very old are not fit to ride at all.
-They did overbooking along with school kids and didn't receive many facilities for longer time like swimming pool etc.
-Initially we were told that we will be provided conference room too but later dirty spa was given as storage room.
-Very rude staff except few who were nice.
- Theme of the resort is very creative.Pottery classes, milking cow and bullock cart ride was good.
- Swimming pool was clean initially but due to overbooking along with school kids the party was spoiled soon :(
- Coffee and tea was good.
We visited Our Native Village for a team offsite. Although we have travelled and stayed at various types of hotels, this one came as a pleasant surprise for us. The concept of Eco resort in village surroundings intrigued us. This was just like our ancestors lived, all those years ago.. in the villages, albeit, not as tough as their living conditions; because Our Native Village has some luxuries too. But this is as close as one could come to living the pure and pristine village life.
The open spaces and the clean and crisp air work wonders on how much you enjoy, but the staff is their main USP, I would say. They win you over with their happy to take care of your requirements attitude. Their large kitchen garden keeps you interested with a variety of vegetables and herbs they grow there, more so, when you get to know that some of the food that you eat is made out of the fresh produce. A rare occurrence indeed these days.
Clear starry skies are ideal for those interested in stargazing. The visit to Nrityagram, barely a km or two away.. was a soul enriching experience. Back at the resort, the native games can keep you busy through the day and also gives you a chance to mingle with other groups of guests. Being a pet friendly hotel, you can enjoy with your furry friends too. All in all a fantastic experience, something that you can go back for again and again!
