Wonderful place to stop and stay Wonderful place to stop and stay

by Charlotte C on January 16, 2017

We had a marvelous stay at Bhavani Villa, Danta, with such kind hospitality from our hosts, superb food and service and wonderful calm rooms with terraces looking out over the village and valley. It was a wonderful place to stop and have a moment of calm to appreciate the beauty of the area, the values of nature, the farm, the horses and to sleep well in great comfort away from the noise of the cities. I thoroughly recommend a stay here and hope to return one day soon.

Great choice! Great choice!

A quiet homestay, situated on a small hill in the middle of nature, which gives you the chance to learn something about life in the countryside of Gujarat. The couple running the place will be most willing to show you Bhavani Villa, their farm (also with beautiful horses) and the tribal area.

Excellent Heritage Stay Excellent Heritage Stay

Great place for those looking to get off the usual tourist trails. Bhavani Villa is located in a beautiful area in the hills of Gujuarat close to Rajasthan. There are some stunning temples in the area and many opportunities to speak with local people. The Maharaja and his wife are delighful hosts and provide a warm welcome and comfortable stay. We enjoyed chatting with them at meals and learing more about the area and life in India. The food is excellent and they prepared a special dessert for my birthday which I appreciated. No alcohol is served (as throughout Gujarat) but you can get it in Ahmedabad and bring it with you. We had a large room and the balcony had a nice view of the town and surrounding countryside. Good shower. Laundry service is available. We enjoyed our stay at Bhavani Villa and recommend it highly.

A Very Pleasing Experince A Very Pleasing Experince

by VivekNagar on November 15, 2015

We have been exploring various heritage home stays in Gujarat and Rajasthan for some time now, but somehow missed Bhavani Villa all these years. We were lucky to find a slot during Diwali vacation and what a time we had! The moment you start the climb to the palace, you are assured of a rewarding experience. As we reached the top of the hillock, we found Maharana Mahipendra Singhji and Maharani Chandra Kumariji coming to receive us and already we were feeling like honoured guests. The room appeared to have been personally supervised as we found all details attended to (we were 3 of us, and there were 3 sets of toiletries and towel sets already kept whereas we have had to ask for the extra at many places). As it was lunch time, we went to the lovely dining room which has a very nice feel about it. The Maharana and Maharani joined us for the meals, and we felt like part of the family rather than guests. The food was one of the best we have had anywhere, with variety, preparation and taste indicating the personal touch and training of chef and staff. In the evening, we were personally taken by Maharaniji to the stud / agricultural / dairy farm a little distance away from the palace (Maharana Mahipendraji is there morning and evening looking after the dairy and tending to his passion horses). The farm itself turned out to be a learning experience for us. The Maharana very painstakingly explained us the nitty gritties of running such diverse activities successfully. The walk through the farms is rejuvenating and spending time watching the thoroughbred horses from near quarters is a treat to the senses. The evening wound up with a nice cup of tea with snacks at the farm. On our return we were greeted by Whoopie and Jennie the German Shepard and the Siberian Husky. Now I was seeing the wolf like Husky for the first time, but both are so loving that we instantly made friends with them. Over the next two days we spent some quality time with both. Dinner was served in the open canopy on the terrace. Surrounded by greenery and hills, the open dining is a surreal experience. The owners were gracious enough to joins us for all meals. The dinner was again so delicious that we had to consciously try not to overeat. We expressed a desire to go for a short trek in the surrounding forests, and the owners graciously spared one staff to accompany us. It was a cute little trek through thick bush and nice hills. Most of the day was spent in watching ducks, geese and cocks and hens. We spent about 2 hours with them, and in that time saw their diverse moods and habits again a great learning experience. Evening was again spent at the farms but this time we took a complete round of the farms (almost 4 km), and returned to learn from Maharanas rich experience on farms. Over dinner when we commented on the nice and new preparation of meat, the Maharana surprised us with the information that they have over 390 varieties of meat preparation, meaning you can have a new dish every day throughout the year and beyond! Next morning we again did the trek around the farms before breakfast and bidding adieu. The whole experience was dreamlike, and we never felt like paying customers. We learnt what graciousness is from Maharani Chandraji and returned carrying fond memories of the place to return soon.
