Hidden gem right on the highway to Jaisalmer Hidden gem right on the highway to Jaisalmer

by Anupjit S on December 1, 2017

For those visiting Bikaner, this is the best place to stay - whether a few days of sightseeing around Bikaner which the extremely warm, friendly and hospitable host Karan can arrange, or if you are breaking your journey to Jaisalmer. Marudayam is located right on the main highway and has ample private parking within the property. Each villa has a private sit out and interiors are well done up to meet a travelers requirement. Food is good and service is excellent!!! Karan is also an expert at arranging dune camps with exquisite wagons, kitchen, toilets etc all at exotic locations to get the true desert and sand dune experience old style. The owner Karan has rich experience in hospitality and its old school classic warm and friendly. If your definition of hospitality is snapping fingers at waiters and expecting a man Friday to answer a bell in 3 minutes then you might as well avoid this property. This is a place for the cultured and who understand human values and earn respect to seek out old style experiences which are almost extinct. For example: caravan camping in the dunes etc . For 1 day to xx days with kitchen, toilet tents etc just like good old Days of the Raj while the resort is your base. The property is also a marriage destination if you book the resort. Has a good, large and private swimming pool.

it's not that great ... it's not that great ...

Surprise are everywhere while you travel and it was that one of them ,it was a small room with no interiors done but was clean and had all the basic amenities a room should have.Food is the limiting factor about this property, it tastes decent but the menu is very very limited.

Peaceful Peaceful

I had initially booked a Camel Caravan Safari with night stay at the camp site and booked two rooms for the next day at the resort. Couple of weeks before I started my tour of Rajasthan I was informed by Mr. Karan, the owner, that the weather has changed and its become very cold and if we would want to go ahead with the Safari. After discussing with my family we had called off the safari and decided to stay for both nights at the resort. It was a good decision to call off the safari was what we realized after reaching Bikaner, the temperature had dipped and it was quiet chilly at night. The morning temperature showed 2 degree celsius on 31st Dec. The resort is around 10 - 20 mins away from the main city and has great greenery available within its premises. The rooms were equipped with heaters which was good, as it helped beat the cold. The best part of the stay was food. It was freshly prepared home made food, and the Rajasthani delicacy were just finger licking good.

Poorly maintained Poorly maintained

The pictures of the resort seemed very nice, but in actual the resort didn't live up to the ratings. The owner is very friendly and helpful, but the property is not maintained well. We visited in mid November, but it was supposed to be an off season and probably the reason.

Great Experience Great Experience

The weather during December was great. Though the nights were cold the hotel set up a campfire for us and everyone enjoyed it. Days were sunny and we enjoyed lazing in the garden which was very peaceful after Delhi. Rooms were good and they had heaters so were cosy at night. Food is home cooked so we had to order earlier and it was excellent. The only problem we faced was having to walk in the cold to the dining room to eat or ask for anything as the hotel does not provide room service, nor do they have intercoms in rooms. There are also 3 dogs which belong to the owners and stay on the campus, but these are very friendly and great company.

Demo Trip The desert gets cold during the night so choose rooms which receive sun during the day. Poolside or front cottages are best for this.

by manojbansal1857 on January 20, 2015

Demo Trip Rooms are all alike but the cottages have a lovely sit out.

by payalsinha84 on December 21, 2014

Demo Trip Rooms near the pool may get a bit noisy once the pool is active otherwise these are better rooms than the cottages.

Demo Trip Chose a cottage.

by Nonny36 on December 11, 2013

Demo Trip Cottage type rooms are better in the summer because of the little sit out which is ideal for an early morning cup of tea or a book at night.
