I never expected that the hotel be so good in the remote district of Bihar. I have really enjoied the trip by staying at TajDarbar, particularely the staff behaviour is excellent.

Disappointing & disgusted. Disappointing & disgusted.

by ravon m on October 17, 2016

We checked in at 1700hrs & checked out at 1900hrs sacrificing the money paid in advance. The deceitful name Taj does disservice to a good chain of hotels. DO NOT STAY HERE. Staff was apathetic, with a 'couldnt care less' attitude. The price of Rs6500 is an absolute joke. The place is old, & worth 2* only. Wifi is a piddly 30mb only. Air-conditioning swing function didn't work. The fridge was just barely cool & could not be made colder. Pigeon parked on bathroom window sill continued to make noise. We left in disgust asking my driver & my guide to use our rooms which were paid for anyway. Anil & family. Australia.

We had another hotel booked in Bodh Gaya but it was dreadful so we enquired at reception in the Taj Darbar about whether we could stay at their hotel for the remainder of our time in Bodh Gaya. We were shown a number of rooms to choose our favourite from. We chose a super deluxe room and were given a very good deal on it. The room was way above typical Indian hotel standards, but still wasn't on par with what you would find in Europe for the same price bracket. The room was very large, cleaner than most hotels we have stayed in, and came with a lot of little extras like toiletries. There was meant to be 24hour hot water, but we found we had to call reception to ask them to turn it on. The wifi in the room wasn't great, but it worked well in reception. Breakfast was a bit limited as I don't eat eggs and porridge wasn't available from the menu when we were there so the only western options were toast and cornflakes. In general the restaurant was cleaner than many hotel restaurants we have seen and the staff were professional and knowledgeable about the food on the menu. We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. If you can get a big discount on the room it is well worth it and much better than what you get elsewhere for the price. However if we had paid the full price for the room 6,500 per night without breakfast included I would have expected a much higher standard.

This hotel is in great land , the land of Gautama Bodh , the land of knowledge. Surrounded by nature view. Specifically for tourists. Best place for tourists to stay. Just near main temple. The food they serve is very good and the surrounding environment is mind blowing

Service is below par Service is below par

This hotel is below par because there shabby service. I don't think it even consider for 3" category. They don't even know what to serve in breakfast, even the quality of food is so bad. I don't recommend this hotel anymore.

In the Buddhist pilgrimage city of Bodh gaya, this is a good hotel with all amenities. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds , maintained clean and spacious ,neat bathroom, good service from the staff and an excellent restaurant serving delicious food. Good value for money. Recommended for groups and families visiting the Buddhist pilgrim centers in and around Bodhgaya.
