Hot water and Internet were Ok. A little noisy (maybe because those were the days after the Kalachakra initiation). I did not meet Rahul, but the woman who runs the place is one of the bitter women I've ever met. She locked us outside in the middle of the night, while we were waiting for our ride (two women). When we asked for boiled water, she answered in a very rude way (there was no need, it was only water, not her ribs). I definitely don't go back to this place in this life time.

Very nice stay! Very nice stay!

My friend and I stayed at this guesthouse for 4 nights. We paid 650 rupees per night for a double, non-AC room. We had booked over the phone and everything was in order when we arrived. The guesthouse is within easy walking distance of the Mahabodhi Temple. Despite the 106F weather in Bodhgaya during our stay, the ceiling fan kept the room reasonably cool. The room itself was pleasant and clean. The women who run the guesthouse are friendly and helpful. They gave us change for the huge bills the ATMs always spits out to help us around town, did some laundry for us at a reasonable price, and let us leave our bags in a spare room between checkout time and when we needed to leave for the train station. The biggest bonus was the refrigerator in the hallway, which was a lifesaver in such hot weather. We were able to have ice cold water every time we came back the hotel! Thanks for a great stay.

I reserved 3 nights online at Rahul Guesthouse for the price of 1500 rupee /night. When we arrived the lady owner informed me that they were full. I explained that I had a reservation and showed her the confirmation email. She assured me that they were full and told me to call Rahul if I had a problem. I explained that I do not have an Indian cell phone and she should call him to sort this out. She was resistant to this until I accused either her or Rahul of lying to me about my reservation. No one likes being called a liar. After about 30 minutes of arguing she finally made a phone call and guess what...suddenly they had an available room! The first night they put us in a room on the main floor. The room was clean but noisy. The 2nd and 3rd nights we stayed upstairs in a nicer and quieter room. She never apologized for the mix up but she only charged us 1000 rupee /night so I felt this was her way of apologizing. She's ended up being a very nice lady and we got along well so it's unfortunate that we got off to a poor start. I would easily give this hotel 4 stars if it wasn't for the reservation mix up.

Unfriendly and rude. Don't go there! Unfriendly and rude. Don't go there!

The owner is an arrogant and rude person. She requires you to pay for your entire stay upfront. So if you stay 1 month, she requires you to pay 30 nights at check-in, and if you dare to negociate, she starts screaming at you like a sorceress. Actually, many times a day you can hear her scream in the hallways. Then, the fact that the place is clean has a cost. She actually is a complete hygiene freak. If you dare to make it a little bit dirty, she will scream big time and eventually give you back your money and kick you out!!! :o its so shocking, especially for India lol. I had a little bit of tiger balm on my bedsheets, and she made me a scene and kicked me out :o it's very funny and sick at the same time, I still can't believe it.

A great stay A great stay
