These people are con-artists, ruthless criminals. First of all, this is not Sakya but, Shakya Guesthouse. They pretend to be a well known Tibetan Monastery Sakya GH. This one is run by little Indians, who pretend, or don't understand English at all when you complain, or whatever you want to ask. Yet, when comes to pay bill, they write it in a long well elaborated English handwrite. GH is far cry from advertised luxury. For 1200 INR per day, I've got very cold and very hummid room with out of order water suply in a very accoustic GH. No internet. No restaurant or cafe bar. Imagine, after 2 days travel, I could not get a shower. Next day, I had to use bucket, because a shower did not work. They promised to fix it, and I was waiting 3 days without any success. I was offered another room, so I packed my things and moved there. Next day, I've got only very hot water. No cold counter regulate it. I moved again to another room, and again, on the next day I've got no water at all. They must be freaking kidding me. I was already very ill from Bodhgaya bug, and attending Kagyu Monlam everyday. Very difficult to find another place. All taken. The Webpage is run by the Travel Agency. I booked a room online. When I've arrived, I was told, I must pay 6000 in advance, because an agent has paid for me to book a room. I could hardly believe it. And, I was not informed about this detail in e-mail exchange, or in phone calls with an agent earlier. They said, it is custom in Bodhgaya. Well, I was very tired, and from the day one, I wanted to be in peace with everybody without any beef. Another thing I noticed, there was not a single foreigner but me in this GH. Only noisy little Indians, who did not look like to afford to pay 1200 a day, letting 4 pers. in double bedrooms. I've been in India a few times before. This experience is the worst, and the only one I've ever had. My advise is to stay away from these sorry people!

  • In case of an increase in the hotel tariff (for example, URS period in Ajmer or Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri) the customer is liable to pay the difference if the stay period falls during these dates.
