Very lovely and helping family and beautiful place close to the city center and the bodhi tree temple. Family helped us with everything they could (drove us around, organising stuff) and prepared delicious food for us. All in all, lovely people, lovely place!!!!
Tara guest house is tucked away from the busy roads what makes it an ideal place to sleep and rest. However very accessible on foot to the surrounding temples. You can walk comfortably everywhere. The impecable rooms look onto green and the entrance area has a lovely verandah to enjoy the sun. The atmosphere is very friendly and the cozy dining kitchen is so inviting, very special energy. I met very intersting people. The attention is very personalised, what makes it ideal for me and very different from conventional hotels or guest houses.
I stayed here for the 34th Kalachakra, so Bodhgaya was heaving with people. I'd come on a tour who had booked out the whole guesthouse. I'd opted to stay here rather than a hotel and was glad I did. The rooms were simple, notable for being very clean. The ensuite had a Western-style toilet and a shower that worked and there was usually hot water when I wanted it (and when there wasn't, it seemed I just wasn't running the taps long enough). What stood out for me for how hard Anuj and Dominique and their team worked; they were providing breakfast and dinner for .... 60 people? from 5 am and were working around the clock. Food was simple, plentiful and much appreciated! Every single person (especially the beautiful kids) were so happy and willing to help with any request. I felt very cared for and valued that very much given the challenging logistics of being among a 200,000 strong crowd. I appreciated the flexible way they responded to our needs, quickly noticing us looking hopefully for chai in the afternoons for instance, and so making it available. Dominique was very kind to relay information about the teachings (making copies of the mantra for instance for everyone). I so value the school that she established to offer education to poor children and love that the profits from the guesthouse business supports this. I highly recommend staying here, especially if you're there during a big event -- it's a 15 or 20 minute walk to the Mahabodhi Temple or Kalachakra Ground (closer to the Kagyu Monlam) and that's a welcome distance from the noise and crowds.
I felt like home when I arrived at Tara guest house Anuj and Dominique have the knowledge and ability to make this place not only a guest house but a place to share and learn what it is love and compassion in action. The children here come from very poor families..and here they can go to school, Eat and have strong support system. I recommend this guest house...to anyone that wants to experience what I described. Thank you!,
Tara GuestHouse was the best place to stay in Bodhgaya. I spent a few nights there. It was peaceful and quiet, away from the crowds, and only a 20min walk to the Main Temple. The owners (Naveen and Chandan) and their whole family as well as local friends have been very nice, kind and accommodating in every way. Any issues have been solved then and there. Everything was just very smooth, based on trust and honesty, which is the way the attitude they live by in their day to day activities. This is so rare in India these days! Especially in popular touristy places!!! They helped me organize a car for a day trip to nearby sites! They helped me ship things abroad as i ran out of time; they even gave me a lift to the train station at 2am! Left the place filled with many beautiful memories...
