We stayed in this facility last summer (Jul18) while we visited Chennai from US. We choose this place looking at these fake reviews in Google. I just want to share our real experience and help the type of people like me who will be traveling from US to Chennai and will be looking for a serviced apartment thru internet. I will not recommend this place for people like my family (from US, no influence in Chennai)
Ok type of rooms (not much space), nice breakfast and nice nearby amenities.
1. Poor / unprofessional way for managing room rent
a. When we booked this place from US to stay there for a month for 3 adults & 2 kids, they asked for 10K advance, we requested our relation living close to this serviced apartment to pay that advance.
b. During our travel time, they contacted our relation directly and asked them to give another 10K to confirm the room before our arrival, since my relation was not able to contact us they paid that money without our knowledge.
c. Initially, they committed with us for making the full payment in two parts, one portion by end of 15 days and another portion while checking out after 30 days.
d. After we arrived, that night itself the front desk manager (I dont know his name, but its not Magesh, another manager with glasses), said they need 50% of the total 30 days rent the second day itself. We mentioned to him that they had initially committed for two partial payments. After that he said, OK thats fine Sir. We felt, wow nice customer care without realizing what's coming for us the next day when we meet another manager Mr. Magesh.
e. Next day morning when I was going to nearby grocery to buy some things (I was literally tired with jet lag and late-night arrival), Mr. Magesh just stopped me on my way out and started explaining what his management is asking him about the rent for my room. He asked me to pay 50% of the one month rent immediately. I said, last night I already spoke to the manager about the initial commitment of making 2 partial payments and he agreed to it. Mr. Magesh said, I need to pay 50% now. I asked him whether I speak to his management and he refused, and he said, ok pay at least 10k more now. Then I agreed to pay 10k more.
f. This didnt stop, in few days later he stopped me while I was coming back from shopping, I was carrying few pounds of things in both my hands, Mr. Magesh just stopped me and started asking me to pay more money. I was really annoyed, and I told him why this is happening to me and I expressed that I am not been treated well so far, he didnt bother about my concern and he raised his voice. I was worried and requested him that I will go to room first to keep the things I was holding. Finally, he let me go after annoying me for 20 mins. Then I came down with a payment plan with dates like paying them every Friday the balance for that week, and I asked Mr. Magesh to review it and I requested him to sign that, he was not ready to sign but he verbally agreed to that payment plan.
g. After few days, I had my in-law visited me in the morning during breakfast and I requested the supervisor whether my in-law can have breakfast and I told them I am ready to pay for it, he said not need and allowed him to have breakfast (he had just 3 idly). Then we went back to room and chatting, then I got a phone call in the room from Mr. Magesh, literally he started to hell at me saying, I should not bring outside people to have breakfast. I told him supervisor allowed me, but he didnt listen to me at all and he kept on screaming and I requested him please give respect, he didnt stop, and I told him I am ready to pay for it, Mr. Magesh said I have to pay Rs.500/- for 3 idly my friend had and he just hung up the phone. Then I took some of my friends help to find out another severed apartment near by and moved out the same day with my 2 little kids and my old mom. So much of stress I had to go thru that day, which I cant explain in words.
2. Lake of customer service
a. Initially we requested for normal refrigerator so that we can store some fruits and milk for my kids, which they committed to provide. When we arrived, we saw a small size refrigerator which is typically used for storing beers.
b. Person who servers the breakfast (he also takes care of all the services to that property) in the morning is biased in treating people, he always stays near our table to push us to finish our breakfast as quick as possible, even though we are a group with 2 young kids and old lady (75 years), reason he will say is people will come, even though there will be some other people (may be influenced people) in the breakfast room he will only hurry us.
3. Annoying front desk person (manager) Magesh VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS GUY!!
We were planning to visit India for the first time and Cloud Nine was the first accommodation in our trip. Prior to arriving, we were asked to pay a deposit for our stay and had to pay cash up front. With a family of seven, we had requested to stay at Cloud Nine for two separate stays in Chennai during our holiday, in hopes that we would have a family friendly accommodation.
Once we arrived we noticed that the rooms were stuffy, and the tap sinks and other closets and closed spaces were filled with neptholine balls (moth balls) which gave off a strong odor in both rooms with little air ventilation. When we opened the fridge there were yellow stains everywhere and we could not use it at all. The coffee mugs and trays were dusty and stained, making it unable for us to even drink water. Given that it was a service apartment, none of the kitchen amenities were in working order or in usable condition. In one room, the drinking cups were placed under the rack where you keep your shoes. When we were passing by the lobby, we saw that the staff were cleaning the plates and cups outside and just rinsing them using a bucket of tap water, but no sanitary measures were being taken.
After staying the first night, we raised our concern to the manager in private and switched our accommodation to another hotel. We explained the hassle we had to go through to find an alternative last minute accommodation for our large family and stated that we understand we stayed one night. However, we would like to be refunded for the remaining stay. The manager agreed to this and said he understood our concerns and would get back in touch with us. After that, he stopped answering our calls and we even visited the property again a few times in person but he was unavailable. He would later answer our calls, but say he needed extra time. Finally he denied our refund under the basis that he had to hold the room for us. With all other properties and hotels, all guests are able to make reservations and still get refunds if its within the cancellation policy. Additionally, he kept the advance payment that he took for the second half of our stay that we originally planned with them (for a completely separate week).
No other property asked us to pay cash up front, especially as foreign tourists. However, this was the only place that asked, and unfortunately we didnt know, as this was our first time visiting the country. We lost a lot of money by trusting the managers words and what appeared to be his kind demeanor. He never gave us an opportunity to talk to the management and came up with his own answersnot allowing us to get a single penny back. We wont recommend this place to anyone and want to help others from losing out their money.
Please save yourself the hassle and money and find a tourist friendly and trustworthy accommodation elsewhere.

I had been to this newly come up service appartments in Mylapore to visit a friend. The place is well maintained with superior rooms and clean hygiene bathroom. They offer morning breakfast. Car park facility is available. Easy to locate. On the main road. Except the rates are a bit on the higher side but i think being a new one with good facilities its not an. Issue.
Stayed here for 2 nights with family, thought this place deserved a good review for future travelers.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom. had a TV in each of the bedroom so was a good thing.
A good place. Clean, well maintained, within the city. You can get an Auto easily outside the hotel. 2Kms away is Express Avenue.Zara's (a good pub), China Town, Ilusions....etc.
The staff was friendly, so you can use their advise on how to get about in chennai. Prior to booking we did send a lot of queries to them, and we got a quick reply.
The only thing we found a little difficult was telling the auto guys the location. But i think we sorted that in the 2nd day, Tell them aluvapet, close to isabel hospital, hanuman temple, oliver road, ...that should give the idea. If all fails then keep the contact numbers of the hotel guys and give them a call they can speak to the drivers and guide them easily.
Would recommend anyone to stay here.
I chose this hotel mainly for the proximity to an area I wanted to visit. I must say, even if it was located a little away I would have liked to stay here.
Extremely comfortable stay, very clean rooms and bathrooms, very courteous staff, exceptional services.
If you enter a room, it will either please you or you will just have to adapt to it during your stay. I must say that this was one of the places I instantly liked upon arrival.
Will definitely recommend it. Needless to mention, this will be the hotel of choice in my next visit to the city..
Truly, staying at Cloud Nine was one of the best highlights of my trip..!
